I do not care for mine at all. I actually see 2 docs, one woman who is really great, but young and the main doctor, a man, requries that if you are an OB patient you MUST see HIM at some points of your pregnancy. Well he is a richard-head if you know what I am trying to say. I had the female doc for the first 3 times I went there, then got him and I felt it was too late to switch to a new doc. He is terrible, comes in- does not even look at you, goes straight to the chart, and makes off-handed, almost offensive comments. He lectured me about my footwear, asked me "is there movement?" I said "yes he is kicking me right now" and his reply was "oh you deserve it". What an A. s s..... I am really nervous about delivery if he is on call. I mean he acts like he knows everything and I am afraid of how he will want to handle things when Im in labor...did you have a doctor you did not like? What happend? Can I ask for another doctor if he is on call?

I have stayed at home for almost a year now with my son. I am pregnant again and this second child is due in September. I'm considering putting my son in day care a couple of days a week just so I can have some time for myself. Does this sound selfish? I don't mean to be, but I need a break.

My son just turned 4 months old. He has been sick for around 3 weeks. I have taken him to two different doctors and they say he is fine. He is really snotty and coughs alot. He coughs so much he chokes and throws up like a whole bottle. He does'nt have a fever or anything. He Does'nt want to eat at all! I have to trick him to eat and then he might cough a hour later and throw it all back up. The Doctors won't listen to me even though he has lost almost a pound in a week! The Dr. today said " well, he is still big for his age" I was like so what! He still lost like a pound! that can't be good right?!?!? Im desperate! Im so scared to sleep at night. He sleeps around 6-8 hours a night but has been really restless and coughs all night. Im afraid he will throw up so he has been sleeping in his swing and i've been on the couch so I can keep a eye on him. What should I do?

My 4 month old daughter has had eczema on her hands, elbow areas and back on her legs for a couple of months. We switched her formula from Enfamil to Nutramigen for a month, as directed by her pediatrician. There wasn't any change. It didn't get worse or didn't get better. We just changed her formula back to Enfamil.
Should we have waited longer? She is fine other than the eczema. No other symptoms that would suggest an allergy to milk protein.
Has anyone had this problem or have any suggestions?
Her doctor said that if she was going to have any symtpoms for a milk allergy that it would show up right away after changing back to her original formula. I am so confused. Help!

Initially I planned on exclusively breastfeeding but my milk didn't come in for five days and the colostrum wasn't enough for her. She lost too much weight and had jaundice bad enough that they were going to admit her to the hospital if I didn't supplement with formula to get her weight up and jaundice alleviated. Since then I have been giving her the breast first and then formula, but no matter what I do (pumping frequently, etc.) I can't seem to make more than two or three ounces (the most in the morning). I've been to a lactation consultant, didn't really help, and I've tried relaxing and getting comfortable, but that doesn't really change the amount I make either. And now my baby won't latch for more than a few minutes because she has gotten used to bottles and gets frustrated with nursing from the breast. I want to keep breastfeeding because I hate all the issues that formula is giving her (constipation, gassiness, etc.) but don't know what to do to increase my supply.

She was just switched to soy formula because of a possible allergy to regular formula and is spitting up less but i believe this is what constipated her. She was also very gassy before and still is, so I'm not sure how to alleviate that either other than using gas drops. I did research on the constipation and I've seen Pedialyte suggested for diarrhea but not constipation. I've seen suggestions that say to give her prune juice with water. Which should I do and how much?

Me and my best friend were pregnant at the same time. I had a boy and she had a girl. She swore by Luvs and just loved them. I used them once on my son and they leaked all over the place and I swore I'd never use them again. Got his clothes all wet and everything. Well, a few years later, she got pregnant again and had a boy. She bought some Luvs and she said they leaked on her son! She was so disappointed that she couldn't use them, and I said see, I don't think Luvs work good on boys! Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Is not breastfeeding your child because breastmilk comes from the human animal taking vegan philosophy too far? Personally, I'm appalled that anyone would be so arrogant as to use any philosophy as a justification for not taking their child to a doctor and starving their child to death, but that's just me. I'm not vegan, so I'm asking for an honest and informed answer:

--Does veganism mean not going to a doctor?
--Does being vegan mean that soy-based formulas are also out of the question?
--Do any other vegans out there think that these parents were just ignorant, or that they were deliberately neglectful?
--What can other vegan parents do to avoid malnourishing and/or undernourishing their kids?

We were kicked out of our home and in the move my WIC vouchers disapeared and WIC won't replace them. My baby is currently on Enfamily lactofree lipil. We are really low on money right now and I have some similac samples and coupons and I have tons of Good Start Coupons. Will it hurt her in any way if I Use them, because around here Enfamil is the highest priced one. And it only takes her 3 days to go through a can.

im a new mom to my soon to be 1 month old daughter. i feed her 3 oz of formula whenever shes hungry. but about an hour later, shes hungry again so i give her another oz. an hour after that, shes ready for another 3. is that normal? should i just move her up to 4 oz? ive asked her ped. *whom im going to change* and she said if she acts like shes hungry after an hour, just let her cry until her next feeding time. im not exactly to fond on starving my daughter so i need another opinion.

Vegan parents in Georgia were sentenced Wednesday to life in prison after their 6-week-old son died of malnutrition.

The baby, Crown Shakur, weighed only 3.5 pounds. He'd been fed mostly soy milk and apple juice. Vegans typically do not consume animal products.

Defense lawyers say the first-time parents did the best they could for their son while adhering to the strict lifestyle of vegans. They said Sanders and Thomas did not realize the baby -- who was born in a bathtub at their home -- was in danger until minutes before he died in April of 2004

If so did the dr. have a problem with that decision. I've read recently some studies that showed a high percentage of children w/autism when their mothers had the rhogam shot.

I buy 6-12 month size for 7 month old and the length is fine but it looks like it is digging into her stomach. Why do they make it so tight? Sometimes it affects her when she is sitting up because I guess it is making her uncomfortable in the stomach area. It's not like she is overweight, she is only 16 lbs (50 percentile). Don't the clothing companies do research or test the clothing on babies? If they made it a little looser it's not like it will fall off of them for goodness sake!

What exactly is cluster feeding? Why would you do it? My baby is 6 weeks old today and is eating 3-4 oz every 2-3 hrs. Does this sound about right?

I'm due 9/3 and can't come to a final decision as to whether I want to breastfeed or not. I'm feeling a lot of pressure from friends and family to do it, but I know there are many healthy people out there who were not breastfed as a child (myself included). I can't make up my mind and I was hoping for someone I dont know to offer a little insight to the whole deal. My issues: being uncomfortable with the whole situation, pain, not wanting to pump, only having 6 weeks before returning to work, weining to a bottle, lack of rest, my husband missing out, just to name a few. However, my child comes first and want to do what is best for her, is there a middle ground at all? Am I a terrible mother for not wanting to breastfeed?

let me tell you from experience, i have done both on my two kids breastfed the first and formula the 2nd and there was no difference health wise! actually the formula was easier and i didnt get saggy boobs! so dont let ANYONE manipulate you into breastfeeding! because they both work the same!

2007-05-09 05:06:57 · 18 answers · asked by KSMOMM 2

i am not trying to offend anyone but why do some people insist on lecturing and pushing women to breastfeed. it is there own decision. and the doctor does enough of that. it was your decision to breastfeed. some people cant breastfeed and you people make them feel horrible when you try to push it on them. formula does the same as breastfeeding minus the saggy boobs after! i know because i breastfed one of mine and formula fed the other and there was no difference health wise formula was actually easier.
so with all that said, as nicely as possible... MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS if someone is asking about formula that is because they have made there own choice which they are intitled too! dont bother answering the question if you dont know the answer! thank you and sorry if i offended anyone, i wasnt trying too!

I've seen all sorts of answers about
"at least give your baby colostrum..."
"at least do it for 6 weeks"
"at least do it for a few months"

or "Why are you still feeding your baby at six months?? Quit once they have teeth...!"

There is no point at which your child does not benefit from your breastmilk, so why do people still tell themselves differently?
