What you eat will not affect the baby's complexion. It will affect her health, if you take drugs or eat really badly. Caffeine, in coffee, and coke will really affect the baby too. But breast milk is the best food for baby's for the first year... and it is cheap, convenient and always the right temperature. To increase the amount of milk you make, nurse more often. Normally a women's milk will increase as the baby grows. Don't worry about how much is there, babies at that age only need a couple ounces per feeding, but may need to feed every two hours for a while. Good Luck.

Any amount of breastmilk you can give your baby is good. As for a fair complexion, I assume you mean the colour of the baby's skin? I am not sure that breastmilk or formula makes a difference. I think that is based on genetics, exposure to the sun, etc. If you are meaning your baby's personality (like is she happy, fussy, sleepy), breast milk usually means a happier, more content baby. But this is only true if you have enough milk to fill your baby's hunger! I know this, I have a baby I did not have enough milk for and he was always sad and cried alot until I brought my milk back with a special tea (called mothers milk tea) and Fenugreek, a powerful herb.
Best wishes to your baby and you!

As hard as this mess was to read, I think I still got a question out of it.
YES! Breast milk is very healthy for your baby. In fact, it is the best thing for her.
YES! Eating healthy while breastfeeding is important too. Not just for baby but for yourself.
NO! Breastfeeding or changing YOUR diet will not make baby's complexion any different of a color. Drinking milk does not change the fact that you are Irish, American, Indian, or African American. Only the parents can have a hand in that. Even a couple with a black male and a white female isn't guaranteed a light complected baby. Be happy with the baby girl you have as she is happy, healthy, and beautiful no matter what color her skin is. Love her, kiss her, and tell her she is a pretty baby. Your positive influence will help her develop into a young lady who is very proud of her heritage and help her have great self confidence!

Some women have a hard time creating enough breast milk to satisfy their babies. If you want to continue breast feeding than you need to pump and feed your baby as often as she will take it in order to keep a decent milk supply. It is fine if you supplement with formula. You could put her on the breast and let her drink what she can, then give her a formula bottle. OR, you could pump your milk and mix a bottle with half breast milk/half formula. Breast is supposed to be best. But, in order for it to be best you have to take care of yourself by eating healthy and staying away from alcohol and caffeine. Eat lots of fruit, veggies, fiber, whole grains, and calcium/protein rich foods. This is not a stupid question, you only want what is best for your baby!!! As for the complexion side of it, nothing you do can change how God made your baby!

Breast milk is the best but alternating btwn formula and breast milk is okay and it will not harm the baby. I used to alternate btwn the two. At night and when i was at home i breast fed but in public i used formula. Now let me explain. breast milk to me is too thin and you have to constantly feed the baby. With formula it allows you time and it holds the baby over while u do womans work..cleaning cooking things like that. Now when I was in public and he got old enough to actually eat baby food. I fed him the jar food and pumped my breast for milk. I slowly weened him off formula so that he could continue to get his nourishments. I did this until he was 1 and a half... YES i pumped and put it in a cup for him to drink and mixed his cereal with it. I mean as a mother you will find out what is best for YOUR baby. And as far as his complexion that is genetics and milk or formula has nothing to do with that...

Breastfeeding is very good for your baby, and for you. It does not, however, have anything to do with her complexion.
Keep breastfeeding as much as you can. You can increase your milk supply by drinking water, nursing moms' tea, herbal supplements like fenugreek, and getting lots of rest. The more you breastfeed, the more milk you will produce.

Keep giving her formula and you will NEVER make enough breastmilk to feed her. Get a breastpump and get going with that. Also, consult your local La Leche League. They are breastfeeding EXPERTS and FREE.

there is nothing that you can do about your baby's skin color. that's all up to her genes and there is nothing that you can do about it. breast milk is best for babies health. however, formula isn't bad for them.
