All these people are saying he's too young and to talk to your pediatrician. Well we have 4 month old twins. We did talk to our pediatrician. At 2 1/2 months, THE DOCTOR told us we could start them on rice cereal mixed with formula, on a spoon, not in the bottle. They ate in twice a day, once in the morning, once at night. They didn't scream because they were constipated or had belly aches or anything like that. They both took it very well. They looked forward to it everyday and knew when it was time to eat. We just went to the doc on Monday for our 4 month check up and THE DOCTOR told us to start them on Stage 1 baby food. Both the babies are right where they are supposed to be in height and weight. They are not over weight. They are both perfectly healthy.
If your baby rejects the cereal, he may not be quite ready for it. But if he takes it, which will be pretty messy at first, then go for it. If he gets belly aches or other problems, he may not be ready for it either. But if he is taking it well with no ill effects, go for it.
Our babies were sleeping 8-10 hours a night at 2 1/2 months old. They are very happy, healthy and active babies.
Some people like to do everything by the book, and that's fine. That's their decision. But if you want to start it, don't let anyone stop you. If your baby and his body aren't ready for it, he won't take it, and you will know it.
People are saying that feeding too early is cause for obesity...I don't buy that one bit. It's not when you eat, it's WHAT you eat. If you are feeding your child cookies and cheese curls, yeah, they will become obese. That's what you are teaching them. But if your child eats healthy, and is taught that is how you are supposed to eat, he will carry that with him through life. Feeding your baby cereal is not going to cause him to be obese later in life. It's not like you're feeding him Fruity Pebbles cereal.
Good luck to you!

It isn't time yet, The baby needs to be able to hold their head up on their own before you can give cereal even the rice cereal that is powdered. The baby at this point should eat formula or breastmilk. Start around 4 months. Have a good day.

yes because the pediatrician says not to give a baby cereal until they are 6 months of age. But especially 2 months is very young. Also pediatricians use to give the ok to start giving cereal at about 4 months but doctors now say that too many babies and children are getting too fat, obese and some even are diabetic so that's why they say not to feed babies cereal until they are 6 months. My son is 5 months so i'm just waiting for the next month to feed my son cereal.

It is a long time contraversy over when to start an infant on solids. Now a days a pediatrician suggests around 5 months old. They say that babies younger than 5 months do not have a developed GI tract that can handle solids. I started my 6 month old on cereal when she was 2 months old and she was fine with it, but every baby is different. I would try a small amount to begin with and make sure there are no adverse affects

Cereal at 2 months is the main reason that kids are so fat nowadays. Feeding food too soon leads to obesity, cavities, etc. etc.
If you think you're baby is still hungry after a bottle, then you need to offer them more formula. Up the amount of ounces they're drinking. If the baby is drinking 6 or more ounces already, then you need to talk to the baby's doctor, because something isn't right.
And it DOES NOT help them sleep better. We tried it, just to see if it would work. It didn't. I don't know if it's wishful thinking on the parent's part or what, but it DOES NOT WORK.

You would not be accomplishing anything positive by feeding a 2 month old. Their little bodies simply can not digest food at this point. If you are trying to fill them up so they will sleep more it will only backfire since they will be up screaming while trying to digest th efood. Babies go through growth spurts where they need to eat more. At 2 months they should only be having breast milk or formula. Also, studies show that if you delay solids until at least 6 months you are reducing the risks of your baby developing allergies later in life.
Most studies show to wait until 4 to 6 months before introducing any solids. Go to the library or talk to your doctor.

YES!!! 2 month old babies do not need any food other than milk. Don't try your baby with anything solid until he's 4 months old at the earliest. His digestive system is not well equipped enough to cope with solids yet and you could cause him some internal problems if you introduce solids too early. If he seems hungrier than usual, try giving an ounce more milk...it may just be a growth spurt in which case he'll get over it in a couple of weeks.

It's a little soon. Wait until 4 months. If you really feel like the baby needs the extra calories at night to sleep longer intervals at night, then just mix a LITTLE of it with the breastmilk or formula whichever your using and give it as a VERY thin liquid. It should be so little that the milk consistancy should not even be noticably changed.

I started my daughter at 3 months by adding a pinch of cereal in her formula. She slept all night! They get so hungry having only breast milk or formula. Then when I introduced baby food I only gave her veggies and slowly introduced meats and so on (sugar foods waited a loooong time)
My daughter is 2 and has the healthiest appetite I have ever seen. She loves veggies and will eat anything you can give her!

way too soon. My doc just last Thursday told me to wait till my Mikayla is 4 months old before introducing her to rice cereal.
1. their digestive systems can't tolerate it very well and it can tear their little stomachs up
2. it can make them gain weight way too fast and become lardos
3. If you do that and stretch their stomachs out then later on milk wont be enough to satisfy him/her and before long you'll move on to oatmeal and baby food when it's way too early for it.
My fianees cousin gave her 2 month old cereal and now he is one year old and out weights his 2 1/2 year old brother.
