I have a Medela Pump in style breastpump that I purchased 4 years ago but only used a few times. I took it out recently to use for my second child and it's not working. This was a $300 pump. Medela won't repair it since it's out of warranty and they say there are no authorized repair centers. I don't want to be embarrassed walking into an appliance shop with a breastpump if they can't help me! Any advice?

I am 6 months pregnant and determined to breast my baby once he/she arrives. I have read (and heard) lots of horror stories from women who have had bad experiences with sore nipples etc and wanted to see if anyone had any advise as to how to prepare or toughen up ready for when I start feeding.

My son wakes up 3 to 5 times a night even though he eats a bowl of cereal about an hour before bed and has a bottle at bed time. I need some advice on how to encourage him to sleep longer through the night!

My 10 month old baby had learnt how to clap and wave bye-bye when he was 8 months old. But, from a couple of weeks, he refuses to do clap. when anyone waves bye-bye, he just whines. Has he forgotton how? Did anyone have a similar experience? Should I be concerned? He hasn't crawled yet, but can pull up and cruise.

Hi, I have a 10 month old boy, still a wee baby of course. My problem is my mother buys him age non-appropriate toys and when I tell her about it, she says 'Well, just save it for later'. She saw a good price and got him a hard plastic dump truck with sharp edges - so that's in the closet for much later.

She got him teddy bears for an older child with ribbons and sewn in plastic/glass eyes, so those are being saved for later too.

For his birthday in 2 months, shes told me many times she wants to get him a BRIO train set. I told her I saw the recommended age of 3-7 yrs. on those sets. She said 'well I want him to have it just in case I die, he'll know it's a big gift from grandma'...She's not dying anytime soon: she always says things like this, so you know.

What do I do? I don't want to clog up my closets and house with toys that are far off for him to use. And I don't want to be mean about it. I've tried explaining it to her too. I've heard bad stories of kids using toys that are too old for them (Magnetix) and swallowing pieces..
thanks!

Ok, my son is 7 1/2 weeks old, and has never tasted formula. Well, the pregnancy really messed my insides up, and i have to go for a colonoscopy on tuedays, and i was recently put on the depo shot, which reduced my milk to the point that i only make enough to feed him every hour to two hours.
I have to start taking the laxitives sunday night, which leaves me with no other option then to formula feed temp. I got a gift can of Similac Advanced, and today called and asked how to use it, which i was told if he doesnt deny the bottle to just give it to him blind. well i did, and so far no problems, he can switch between the formula and my breastmilk just fine. Does anyone see any problems with this temp. mix up? i really want to keep breast feeding him, but i am not allowed to with the medicines going through me, which means i cant even pump it, but i can pump and dump to keep my milk supply up right?

THANKS FOR HELP!!!

I have a three week old baby girl, I am breastfeeding, have not pumped/introduced bottle yet. The past couple days my baby has fed for 15 minutes or so, fallen asleep, I put her down, and she wakes up 15 minutes later hungry for more. This seems to be the cycle for a good three hours. Is there something wrong or what is your opinion of what is happening - this doesn't seem normal to me, I'm wondering if she is not getting a good supply from me? Please your help is greatly appreciated.

I'm a first time mom, and I swear that every baby chat site has all of these people talking about the amazing things their babies are doing - sleeping through the night, gaining 3 lbs in the first month, creeping, etc It makes me scared that my baby isn't normal. My baby will be 4 weeks tomorrow, and she primarily seems to have 2-3 hour to three hour long really active periods a day most days. The rest of the time she sleeps or naps waking, during the day, every one to two hours to feed, and at night every two to three hours. She's usually only fussy when she's hungry or first wakes up. She is tracking things with her eyes well, and holding up and turning her head fairly well on tummy time. She tries to scoot, but can't yet. She also has only gained about a pound so far (she's breastfed.) Is this normal?

I know, I'm a paranoid mom. Sorry...

I am breastfeeding my son, he is 7 months. I still have to lose 15 pounds to get back to my pre pregnancy weight. I am not exercising at all. I am not eating to bad, but I'm not eating extremely healthy like I was when I was pregnant. I am eating the same amount that I was before I was pregnant. Anyone lose the weight after they stopped breastfeeding. I think that my body is holding the extra weight because I a m nursing my sun.

I have trouble keeping my son to sit still on the changing table while I change his diaper. He throws toys down and keeps kicking and screaming. He also has some developmental delays and will start seeing a specialist in 3 months. What do I do until then? He can't understand me, I don't know how to get him to mind. It's more frustrating than with a normal toddler who understands the word "No" or talks to express their needs.

My midwife discharged me only 7 hrs after I delivered b/c the baby had to be transferred to another hospital, so I didn't think to ask some of these questions. Just wondering if some other mommies could help me out!

How long will it take the episiotomy to heal? (I'm pretty sure they said it was a 2nd degree midline, if that matters.)

How long will it take the breast engorgement to go away? What can I do to make it go faster? She's been nursing every 2-3 hours today, and I've been expressing milk as well. Does expressing make it worse? It seems like it would just cause me to produce more milk, but it helps with the pain and fullness. I don't want to make it worse in the long run, though.

Any other tips for a first time mommy would be greatly appreciated!!
