My in laws are currently living with us and they are smokers. They smoke outside, but it still drifts into the house. I am expecting my first child in about a month and am freaking out about it. It's going to be hard for me to put my newborn into the hands of a smoker, How do I go about this situation?

I need to know of some good sites that will show me how to make baby food. I tried my daughter with baby food from a jar and she hates it and I tried several different ways. So I crushed up some peas with her milk and she loved it! So please any sites that you know of or may come across later please e-mail them to me if you come across any in the future at winnie_tigger_0406@yahoo.ca Thank you so much.

I am sure that one of the major manufacturer's
Similac
Enfamil
Nestle
is the actual manufacturer for Costco's private label baby formula.

Does anyone know who it is?

Thank you

I am planning on being a stay at home mom to be with our first child. I am trying to make a list of monthly expenses I should expect to spend on our baby.

My list so far:

Clothes: $0 (Have plenty from baby shower and used clothes from friends for first year)
Medical insurance premium for baby: $70
1 monthly doctor visit co-pay and prescription co-pay: $35 (all vaccinations included)
Random OTC medicines: $10
Food/Formula: $0 (Breastfeeding)
Wipes: $5 (Only buying wipes for diaper bag, wash clothes used at home for wipes)
Diapers: $7 (Cloth diapering, $7 for dryer only, water free with HOA fees)
Shampoo/Lotion: $10
Laundry Detergent: $10
Daycare: $0 (Stay at home mom)
Increase in utilities (Only heating for baths): $10
Toys/Pacifiers: $25

Total expenses so far: $182

What else am I missing? What are your baby expenses?

Hi there, we take regular camping trips and are planning to go at the weekend. This time is slightly different as we are taking our 4 1/2 month old son aswell. Before it was just me, hubby and our 6yr old. I am concerned what to dress him in for his nightime sleep as normally we are in a comfortable draught free house and we will now be outside in a canvas tent (albeit a nice one). Sister says firstly to look at weather forecast then prob vest, sleepsuit and cardigan and then his normal blankets. also a hat as babies lose heat through their heads. What do you reckon, he sleeps really well at night and would really like this to continue both for him and for me!!
Cheers.

Just wondering what is the routine at the County Health Department for a baby's immunizations? What all are they gonna do there if we go just for the baby's second immunization shot?

My baby's 2nd immunization is due soon, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to take her. Is it ok if her father takes her, or do I absolutely have to be there for all of her shots??

He is only 5 months old and we had to put him in a convertible car seat and now his little legs are pushing into the seat. Is this safe? We bought the Britax car seat because we wanted the best, but now I am worried about his legs if we were in an accident.

Our 9 months old is starting to crawl around the house and pull up. Sometimes he falls and bumps his head on the floor, sometimes he cries for a few seconds or 1 minute at the most. My husband is very worried about this. I think it is normal that he falls once in a while (2-3 times a day) and he doesn't seem very much hurt to me. I think the baby will learn balance so he won't hurt himself. There are no sharp corners around, I keep him from electrical chords and other hazards. I always keep an eye on him - but I can't always catch him when he falls!

My question is about my husband! How can I calm him down when he's worrying so much about the baby?

Hey. I have a week old babay who has ALOT of eye goop. (i don't know the technical term for it)

Everytime he wakes up we have to wipe his eye. Its only in one eye. We sometimes have to wipe it a couple of times when he is awake.

He can't get into the doctors untill May 8th.

Is it normal for newborns to have this much eye goop? Even if its in just one eye?

i am quite aware that this could still be normal at her age but i can't give her various solid foods because she has no teeth yet.

A lot of poeple I've talked to say never to start that because you'll have a hard time with trasitioning them back to sleeping by themselves. My baby has been sleeping in the same bed as us since he was born and he's 9 months now. Almost everyone I've talked to said they did the same thing and there was no problem getting them to sleep by themselves. Who is against it, and why? Who is for it, and why?
