Even Dr Sears admits his feeding schedule is really pointless:

'Starter foods:
bananas, pears, rice cereal, applesauce"

" Many babies become constipated when foods are first added to their diet. The main reason for this is that the standard recommended starting foods are all constipating - rice cereal, bananas, squash, and applesauce. Why do health care professionals choose these starting foods when they know they will make most babies constipated? Good question. Even my own Baby Book lists these as starting foods.

The truth is, there is nothing special about these foods that makes them better to start out with. Babies don't actually even need rice cereal. So, if your baby becomes constipated after starting foods, here is what you can do. "

ok I looked at one of the charts and I need to make a coment.
Due to allergies I can see not start some children on solids or juice until they are older. But some kids thrive and need it sooner. What I would do is this solids rice cereal mixed with formula(thin) at what ever age they are hungry for 2-6 months.
My daughter was 2 months old. I did not give it to her in bottle but off a spoon. I only fed her solids once a day until she was about 4 to 5 months old. Juice she got baby juice when she was around 2 months also but make sure there is some gap in time so you can watch for allergies. Never give a baby honey. Go by you instincts its your baby and talk with your family.

I like Dr Sears' charts for this. His book The Baby Book has an excellent one. I also like his chart in this same book on common childhood illnesses and dosing amounts for OTC medications. Here is the link to his site with feeding info for different stages.

Well I can tell you to start with veggies around 6 months, and then fruit about 7 months. Start with the veggies, because otherwise your baby won't eat them if you start with fruit. Talk to your doctor just to make sure that the usual time frame applies to your baby. All babies are different....For example my doctor told me on Monday that I could start my little guy on veggies at 3 months, as he is a very hungry little guy and by that time breast milk and formula just isn't going to be enough for him.
