They don't REALLY do that anymore. It is to get the baby breathing, because there my be some fluid in their mouth and nose. Now, though, they suction them, by holding a turkey-baster like object in their mouth and nose, and suctioning the fluid out.

particularly a movie fable, and the belief is that it gets them to cry which proves that they are respiration exact. no person does this anymore, and that i'm uncertain in the event that they used to yet i don't think of that they did.

i never saw this my midwife slapped my babies foot to stimulate her to breathe so i imagine that was for the same reason x x

now they suction the baby to clear its nasal passage etc so it can breathe and tickle its feet to make it cry if it isnt already rather then slap it

They used to do it, to make a baby catch it's breath, start crying, and start breathing...a good healthy cry was always the outcome...my granddaughter, sneezed lol...then turned loose

They only do that if the baby isn't screaming. They need to hear the baby cry to make sure it's lungs are clear.

they dont now they used to now they rub them with a towel to help them take a deep breath and breathe
