I have a Medela Pump in style breastpump that I purchased 4 years ago but only used a few times. I took it out recently to use for my second child and it's not working. This was a $300 pump. Medela won't repair it since it's out of warranty and they say there are no authorized repair centers. I don't want to be embarrassed walking into an appliance shop with a breastpump if they can't help me! Any advice?

Medela might not be willing to repair or replace it for free, but would they fix it for you for a price? Or sell you the parts you need and let you do it yourself? I have dealt with them in the past and their customer service was good, I thought. It wouldn't hurt to just ask if you haven't yet. Good luck...

In response to the answer below about buying a new pump and switching it out, that would not work. Medela pumps are sold in sealed boxes, and when the seal is broken, they are non-refundable for sanitation reasons -- even if you claim never to have used it. It should say so right on the seal.

First I would find out what caused the damage because if you don't solve that problem, you are going to have the same problem again in the future. But to repair a ceiling with water damage I would contact someone that does that kind of repair like a flood damage company or a drywall company.

this is a tad bit dishonest. if u don't have cash on u to spend on another pump system u can do this.

buy a new medela pump system, make sure its the same exact one that u have.
replace the brand new pump with the old pump and take it back to the store. say that u bought a new pump and it doesn't work. wah lah and u have a brand new pump that works .

if u buy something for so much money, u don't expect it to stop working after using it only a few times. the more money u spend on an item, u expect a better product to be.

I'm sorry if u don't like my dishonest idea.

call the hospital, maternity ward, and get name and number of the rental company they use for patients to rent, then go in or call them, they will be able to give you a name of some one who does repairs or possible they might have a repair person there

I would pose your question to a la leche or lactation consultant, they probably would have experience with that type of problem.
