I had the same problem and then a friend of mine turned me onto Gymboree clothing. It fit my son SO much better (their waists are a little bit larger)! Wal-Mart brand clothing has also worked better for my son. You can also make your own clothing. Simplicity makes adorable patterns for little boys and girls.

Some clothes are made differently. You may just need a bigger size in clothes made by that manufacturer. Some clothes that my daughter wears have to be a bigger size than her age, just because they're too tight or whatever. The length will be fine but the waist is a no go.

Try different brands. The ones with the loosest band (that I've found so far) are the Faded Glory brand from Wal-Mart. Also look for pants with adjustable waist bands as she gets older. Or buy a bigger size and roll up the bottoms.

LOL--maybe we'll have that problem one day. All of the pants are too LOOSE for my daughter. She's 4 months now, also in the 50% percentile for weight (unless, of course, you look at the height/wight chart instead of the age/weight chart, because she's REALLY tall); anyway, at 4 months she does MUCH better with the 0-3 pants!
Just buy what's comfortable for your baby, or if it's really bad, put her in more dresses and outfits that don't have waistbands.

That's just the case for your baby. I have had to take up all my daughter's pants ever since she started wearing them(she's 15mos now). She is a good eater, but she is so active she just burns it off!
Buy a bigger size and roll the waist to help the length.

No, nobody feels that way, any more than they feel that they make a bad meat loaf or lasagna.
People are very defensive about the waists they make for infant pants - you really should be more sensitive in how you phrase you question.
I assume an apology is forthcoming?

Every manufacturer is a little different. try on the pants at the store to make sure it fits correctly. then buy lots of the same.

Yes, the elastic is almost always too tight. Good point - you should send your thoughts to the manufacturer of the brand or brands you buy, or would like to buy.
