I am in a similar situation with my girls. I ended up putting my toddler behind me on the driver's side since she needs less supervision. Then, I put my infant on the passenger side where I can see her easier. I has been working really well for us that way. I originally tried it with the carrier in the middle and my toddler would wake her constantly when she fell asleep. :(

I just had the same problem. Im expecting a newborn very soon and I have my girlfriends 16 month old son pretty often. Ideally you should have the infant seat in the middle and the toddler in the passanger seat, but if the 16 month old messes with your baby, the distraction while you are driving is more dangerous to all three of you than the positioning of the seats! Put the baby in the rear passanger and the toddler behind the drivers seat.

This is a sticky situation. First, you have to see IF they will even fit right next to eachother. Babies are safest in the center, especially if you get t-boned by another car. If you put them right next to eachother, you may get lucky and a car may hit the side that neither of your kids are on. If you put one on each side, and get t-boned, one of your kids are toast for sure. Not cool. I recommend visiting your fire station for the best advice on car seat safety. If possible, try upgrading to a van, SUV, stationwagon, etc. That way each child can be in a center seat.

In the middle is the best but since you have 2, put one behind the drivers side and one behind the passenger side.

You'll have to test whether you can place the seats next to each other first. We weren't physically able to place them next to each other in either of our vehicles (Corolla and Explorer), and had to do each by a door. As far as whether the older one will beat on the younger one, hopefully he won't do that in the car or anywhere else.

when we had more than one we put some space between, it is also awkward to put two side by side with seat belts.
