Jewelry is always nice....a charm bracelet that has one charm for you and one for your child. More charms can be added if you have more children in the future!!

Shirts for her and the baby to wear. Her shirt would say "Queen"....baby's shirt would say "Prince" or "Princess". Would be really cute for her and the baby to wear when they go out together shopping or over to visit friends/family during the day!!

Make sure to write her a letter....really get it down on paper what this experience has been like for you. Tell her what "Motherhood' looks like on her....how she has changed and what you love about those changes. Be specific "I watch you when you don't think I am looking and I see the way you love our child.....and I know that I am in the right place." BE SENTIMENTAL in the words that go along with WHATEVER gift you get. THAT will be what is remembered and read and re-read.....Us Ladies love the sentimental stuff!!

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about- about the pregnancy and the baby. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

This is a really beautiful poem too!
Women have strengths that amaze us.
They carry children, they carry hardships, they carry burdens but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up for injustice.
They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without new shoes so their children can have them.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about a birth or a new marriage. Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They have sorrow at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all sizes, in all colors and shapes.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world spin!
Women do more than just give birth.
They bring joy and hope.
They give compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have a lot to say and a lot to give.

You could always look on sites like groupon or living social for deals. They have stuff like designer purses and such for cheap. They also have fun things to do. (that is my thing to use them for) You can get tickets to events, cheap bed and breakfast rates and so forth. Might be worth looking at if you are on a budget. I've gotten everything from nice running shoes to a week in Vegas for next to nothing. They have spa stuff offered all the time too. So you could treat her to a massage or a facial or something nice. Just an idea. I'm a total cheapskate, so I like to find things for a discount.

Here's what I did for my husband on his first father's day:

I gathered up a bunch of pictures of my son with his dad and made a book out of them called "Me and My Dad." It starts with "This is a picture of me, my name is _______." "This is my dad, his name is ________." Then I have pictures of them doing things together (i.e. "Here I am sucking on my dad's nose" "Daddy and I like to take naps together." "Here's Daddy teaching me how to golf." etc). I printed the words onto some nice paper I got at Staples (it has an alphabet border), then I taped the pictures onto the pages, and arranged the pages front to back and took them to Staples and had them laminated and bound. The very last page says "Happy Father's Day June ________"

I think any mom would be ecstatic to receive a book like that about her and her son. Total cost was about $40.

How about a day at the spa or something..that would give her a chance to relax and be pampered.
Other nice things are maybe a necklace with the babies birthstone in it, or a family one with all of your birthstones in it.

GIve her a gift certificate for a day at the spa--mani/pedicure, massage, etc. She would probably appreciate a few hours of relaxation.

You could maybe get professional pictures of your baby and you together. You could even get one tiny enough for a locket so she could carry both of you with her. Another good idea would be a ring with your baby's birthstone in it and their name on it.

Every year my husband always make me breakfast in bed. He makes this big platter of food that I can't finish myself so imake him and the kids eat it with me. I know it is for me but it's much more fun to share the food with everybody.

I think some sort of jewelry with the babies birthstone in it would be nice and special.
