i understand what you mean, some of them are pretty, i dont wanna say dumb, buy i cant think of another word.
Like once someone asked if it was ok to spell a name differently than normal, duh, you choose tha name you choose the spelling.
and some say, should i let mai child watch 2 hours of t.v. at 2 years old???
THAT one i couldnt believe, i know some people are looking for advice on being better parents, but there are no rules on how to be a good parent, and how much t.v. yur child watches, at any age, its ENTIRELY up to you as tha parent.
and one guy, i dont know if it was a joke, but i was SO disgusted by it,
this retard posted that he had droppd his newborn and that "its head", (he called the baby "it") had split and there was blood everywhere and he needed to hide it so his wife wouldnt see.
I swear, my mouth dropped open when i read it, i reported that sh**.
but yea, its a lot easier to read the books and get professional advice then hearing all of this and then having to debate which is right and which is wrong.

Maybe they see it like.. From a book you are getting one persons opinions, and who knows if they have ever experienced the things that they are an expert on, whereas online when you ask, you are getting many people to give you there experiences and tips. I agree that most parenting books have most of the answers, but maybe that isnt that persons style. There are all kinds of people out there with there very own Ideas and style, that is what makes this world an interesting place.

Ever think that they may not have anyone to ask at home. Also believe it or not. There are a whole lot of people that don't have 5 bucks for a book, let alone 25 bucks.
You have read these books. Give these girls some help by aswering their real questions.
I would but they don't want answers about those things from a man.

Oh yeah a parenting book written by a non-parent there is the answer to everyone's problem.
In the old days you had knitting circles and other get togethers. Women had friends. All their friends had kids. Now people have kids at different places in their lives. People don't always even have kids. So you don't have a group of friends with kids to help you out.
So what to do? Get info from a few books. Or get a dozen or so opinions from other parents?

I'm mainly looking at peoples opinions and personal experience, not practical advice as I do trust my own instincts as well as keeping in touch with health-visitors and the GP as well as reading parenting books.
But yeah, some of the Q's are madder than a box of frogs.

I think most people DO read books or magazines and try to learn about things on their own....i think they come on here and ask questions to get other peoples (real peoples) OPINIONS on things,I'm sure not everyone on here is as idiotic as you think they r.....yahoo answers is a fun place to get peoples real life experience and opinions on real situations on real life,i think we ALL know not to listen to some of the advice we hear on yahoo, yet here we are answering questions, asking questions, just waiting for a good laugh or a good piece of advice on something

I so agree with you, there is a lot of naive thinking that goes on here. "Am I pregnant?" ... um... take a pgcy test if your period is late. Logic!
Another sad thing about some of the posters is the immaturity and vulgarity of their questions/comments. It's unfortunate that people have to abuse the internet like that just for kicks.

Sometimes it's better to take advice from other parents instead of someone who is trying to sell books.
