Babies do not eat the food, but rather the mother's body breaks down the food and passes the nutrients on to the baby in the blood stream through the umbilical cord.

Some scientists have begun exploring the possibility that perhaps babies can "taste" what the mother is eating through the amniotic fluid but that is still largely unexplained and may not be true.

A mother's breast milk is said to taste and smell similar to the amniotic fluid which for nine months has soaked the baby's tongue and lips. That's probably why a baby generally likes the taste of it's first food source, i.e., milk.

the baby doesn't taste the food. The baby gets nutrients from the mothers blood.

The baby 'eats' 2 hours after the mother does.

Hope that helps :)

Never. The baby gets nutrition and oxygen via the umbilical cord.
