I'm just wondering how old can your child be when you no longer have to sterilize their bottles.

I'm a nanny, from south america living in USA since 2004. the only thing i see here in america is moms going crazy for theyr babies development, is baby class, baby sing class, books, educational toys, since they are new borns. There is no play time without the parent relax and just enjoy the play time, no, is always need to have some educational pourpouse in the game.
i ask? how could i, and many many others, survive, 28 years ago, without special bottles, without estimulation, whatching tv, playing outside. how could i get a degree in physical education if i didn't had baby einstain or baby class when i was 3 months old? how could i learn to love my mom and be a good person even if she spanked me sometimes and said NO to me many many times.
i want to be a mom, but i'll relax way more, because i will never accept my kid kicking me or telling me to shut up.
Can you, american moms, explain that to me: how could we survive?

We are getting ready to start stage 2 foods with my daughter. Do we need to wait 3 days in between starting a new flavor the same as we did on stage 1 or can we try more than one at a time?

My daughter was taking in 30 oz plus of breastmilk (bottle feeds at the daycare, and 3-4 nursing sessions when not in daycare) plus two solid feeds (stage 3 jars). A couple of days ago she pitched a mighty fit at the sitter's and blew the milk all over her. The sitter noticed that my daughter was staring intently at the older toddlers eating food. She experimented and gave her some solids and told me that she is getting old enough to where milk shouldn't be so much and my daughter is telling me so. Well yesterday my daughter practically did "tell me" by refusing to more than 10 oz of milk over there. She did take food. So, is she self weaning? How much milk should she be getting now? Thanks.

ETA: She's a very picky eater, so I am somewhat nervous with the milk decrease because I want to make sure shes getting equivalent calories, kwim? She can't eat three meals of fruit and yogurt. Or can she??

That those viruses that are being innoculated against are the "the leading cause of bacterial meningitis in the United States".

My question is, if theyre not all vaccines for the same agents, why are we innoculating our infants three different times for the same thing, with multiple follow up shots? And if they are all different agents being vaccinated against, how can they all be "the leading cause of bacterial meningitis in the United States"?

I find soo many inconsistancies in the CDC's print offs, the drug companies information sheets, and all the sites online. Call me what you want, But i nearly DIED from the Hib Vaccine as a child. Just makes me wonder.

Another thing that makes me wonder, all the sites and sheets and print offs (including the one my doctor gave me) say "Newborns can get tetanus from unclean tools used to cut the umbilical cord, or poor cord care" And that adults can get it from stepping on nails or being bitten by an animal and getting an infection.

my son is nearly 5 months old now, whenever we feed him he just will not feed with us holding him upright, we have tried every position but he will only feed if we lay him down on our laps, or on the ground laying down or in his bouncer when he is being fussy. I am stumped as to why he won't feed the regular way......has anyone else had this problem???
If so any tips or advice would be great...also, does anyone else have a baby that won't sleep on their back???

PLEASE HELP!!

My six month old baby boy will cry until I pick him up and I am going batty! Everyone tells me it's my fault because I would pick him up every time he cried. Now I don't know what to do to break the ritual. Mind you, he doesn't do this to his daddy...only me. His dad says it's because he established the fact that he wouldn't give in early on. Naturally, I make sure that he's fed & his diaper is changed and all that good stuff before I put him down to do everyday chores. Soon as I do, he starts wailing. If I walk past and don't pick him up, he gets louder. I tried letting him cry it out, but after 45 minutes, I give in to pick him up and he immediately stops. I feel like I'm a slave to my baby...even when I'm a few feet away, he crys non-stop. I don't know what to do. Help!

I have been breastfeeding my daughter for the past 10 weeks, belive me it has been hell feeding every 2 hours day and night. Yesterday I gave in to fomula only 1 feed in the afternoon and another at 7pm, then she fell asleep at 8.30pm and didnt wake till 5.30 this morning. I then breastfed her then she went back to sleep till 8.30am then she had a fomula feed at 10am. She has been an absolute pleasure to be near today .She has even been smiling and giggling which she never hardly does, normally she is grumpy and irritable. Im really confused and so is my mum who couldnt belive the change in her. Even now as I type shes quietly nodding off after another fomula feed. Now is this normal or is she ill, she doesnt have a temp and isnt crying, or should I just stick to solely fomula feed from now on???

my baby was born 2 weeks ago and i really would like to breast feed him. I have been having some problems with it. He will not latch on to my right breast. he does great on my left breast though. and now i have an infection in my left breast from breastfeeding which makes it extremely painful to breastfeed so i have been giving him bottles of breast milk and pumping. a couple of days ago i was able to pump a good 4 oz out of each breast and now i can only get about 1 oz between the two. i am afraid my milk is drying up. How can i get my milk supply back up??

My doctor has ordered a lead test for my infant daughter. He told me that it was Illinois law that they be tested this way. I called the lab that is going to do it and they said they have to draw blood (from the arm, as they would an older child or an adult) Is this the law in all states? Is it just Illinois? Where can I find out more information about this?

She is 4 months old and I have been giving her soild foods for 4 weeks now, but think that she needs a little more than just veg and fruit. She eats 3 ice cube tray size blocks of food twice a day(10.30am and 5.30pm - potato, carrot, apple, pear, sweet potato, swede etc...) sometimes mixed with rice to make it a bit more, then she still drinks a full bottle of formula milk too! 3 hours is the longest she can go before needing her next feed. She is also showing no signs of cutting back on any of her milk feeds or quantites! She still drinks a minimum of 850ml of formula milk per day, and it is the milk for hungrier babies! Will a little chicken or beef mixed with veg help? I know what the medical professionals say about not weaning before 6 months, but I would like to hear from the mums out there who know better! Thanks!
