Hello everyone. My infant (8 weeks) seems to constatnly cry, he wheezes, spits up and vomits even hours after he eats, he is very tempermental and now he is barely eating. I know everyone is thinking talk to his doctor, but I have...yesterday. He had an appointment and I told her that it has been going on for about a week and all she said is that he is having a bad day. Is she right?

Also, I should mention that he cries so bad that he turns beet red and sweats terribly...and she said just let him do it. (but i can't)

It sounds like an allergy to me. Weezing is an indication of allergy or asthma. If your breastfeeding he could e allergic to something your eating. If your formula feeding maybe you need to try some other type of formula.
Did they check for Reflux too? This also presents the symptoms your describing.

There could also be some normal newborn crying.

Have you tried a baby sling?
Studies have shown that the more babies are held, the less they cry and fuss2. In indigenous cultures where baby-wearing is the norm, babies often cry for only a few minutes a day – in contrast to Western babies, who often cry for hours each day. Crying is exhausting for both the baby and his parents, and may cause long-term damage as the baby’s developing brain is continually flooded with stress hormones. Babies who do not need to spend their energy on crying are calmly observing and actively learning about their environment. Baby-wearing is especially useful for colicky or "high need" babies, who are far happier being worn, but placid, content babies and children will also benefit greatly from the warmth and security of being held close.

I only have one child and this makes me a pretty over-protective mommy. I would definitely get a second opinion from another doctor. A baby should not cry all the time. A baby cries when it needs something or when it is hurting. Any doctor who just tells you that the baby is having a bad day should be fired as your pediatrician. They obviously don't care about your child. On another note, your baby sounds like he/she has gas. Try putting gas drops (you can buy at any store, off brand works as good as the name brand) in the bottles and also try burping after every 1-2 ounces. If you breast feed you can give your baby the drops after he/she is finished. You can also heat a towel in the dryer and wrap around your baby's tummy. This helps with the gas. This worked with my baby (she's 3 now) and I was glad to have this information.

My son did alot of that too and I would end up taking him the ER because my peditrician said that I was too nervous and the child could sense that. I switched pediatricians. My son had to switch to at least 3 different formulas because he would get colic; constipation or diarrhea. Try another pediatrician, I was much happier and once the formula thing was straightened out - my son was doing great, He is now 8. I never had any problems with my other child. I hope things get better for you and your baby - I've been there and I thought I was going nuts! Good Luck

Is this your first born? Is the baby eating and then vomiting in projectile fashion soon after his bottle? Has the baby lost weight? There is a condition called pyloric stenosis where the muscle of the stomach will not allow food to enter normally. It usually occurs in boys. The child would have stomach pain and not be able to intake food normally. He would be hungry and desire to be fed, but after consuming the food it would not pass into the stomach. Ultrasound is usually performed to evaluate for this problem. I would suggest getting an appointment soon for him to be checked for this condition. It has to be surgically repaired. If his regular doctor did not check him as you would have liked then I would suggest you proceed to the closest emergency room. Good luck.

Sounds like acid reflux, lactose intolerance, or colic. Talk to your pediatrician about this. When he vomits, is it the whole bottle or amount that you breastfed? Or is he just really gassy? Try baby massage after he eats and you've burped him. Gently rub his legs and his little tummy. Move his legs around a bit to get the gas out. Pump them in and out gently toward his tummy to relieve some pressure.

Definitly talk to the doc about it for sure though...

She could very well be right. The baby could just have an over anxious mother (nothing wrong with that) on the other hand baby could be not well and needing some attention. Do not be put off. If you feel that your baby needs attention then it probably does. Mothers always know best.
