Can african american light skin newborns have straight hair not curly but straight hair when they are born. if they are black do they look like a different race b/c of there light skin and hair? I'm very sorry for this question didnt mean to offend anyone. Thank you for your time. :)

their skin may be lighter, and even the hair ma be lighter than what what the average person would consider normal for an african baby. however they still do not look like a different race as the features are still predominantly black
however if the parents are of different race than the baby is obviously likely to look like a different race.
genetics characteristics of aricans are likely to be dominnat genes. so curly ahir is dominant to straight hair. dark skin and dark eyes are also dominant.
hope this somehow answered ur quest

There is never a stupid question. So in answer - Yes they can. No matter what race they are the genetics of one parent can and always be stonger. In due time the baby will change and you never know the hair can go curly and the skin can turn slightly darker, or the baby can stay as is. =)!!

My newborn is Native American and African American. He has LONG black hair that is super soft and straight. However, when I wash it, and don't brush it or put lotion in it, it gets a little curly:)
