The "guidelines" that are listed in books and other publications don't take individuality into consideration. You're daughter is not sitting up, because she may be expending all her energy by paying close attention to her surrounding, or trying to control her hands, or her tongue. The only time you should worry is when your baby isn't reaching ANY of her milestones. If she is only behind on one, I can bet that she is just focussed on something else and doesn't care much about sitting up. Either that or she just enjoys having so much attention from you and really has no need for independence.

Don't be worried. When she is 9 months, she will be sitting up on her own, but still needing a bit of support every now and then. My daughter didn't sit up on her own completely when she was almost 8 months either.

Every child developes at there own rate.
I remember that my now 8yr old did not sit up properly unaided until quite late. And he is a perfectly normal child
But if you are worried speak to your Health Visitor. They will be able to reassure you.

No!! All children develop differently, she will sit up when she is ready, dont worry too much about it, sit back and enjoy this time, because soon enough she will be crawling and in to everything, then you wont know if you are coming or going!!!
