You heard very, very wrong.

Not only is it dangerous to put cereal in you babies bottle, its very possible they will have a hard time digesting it. Infants dont make alot of amylase. Amylase is the enzyme that digests grains. They make alot of lactase, because they are meant to digest milk. They dont start producing more amylase until closer to a year old.

Even if they seem to digest it well, there is the increased possability of diabetes and obesity in babies that are given cereal too soon. You wont see these effects until much later. Infants younger than 4 month who were given cereal started producing diabetic antibodies.

As for obesity... if theyre not able to self-regulate their food intake, they never learn to listen to thier hunger cues. This leads to overeating later in life.

2 month olds arent supposed to sleep good. Thats the most common age for SIDS... theyre supposed to sleep lightly and wake frequently. Its just natures way of keeping them safe.

So... by starting cereal right now, you are putting your child at risk for digestion issues, food allergies, diabetes, obesity and death. Is it really that important to you, that you can ignore all of the risks?

I don't even agree with giving a 4 month old cereal (heck, i dont agree with cereal period!), but a 2 month old??? PLEASE dont put your babies health and life at risk, they are too precious!

You should never put cereal in a bottle and 2 months old is too young for any solid food.

Two Months
Your baby will get all of his nutrition from breast milk or an iron fortified infant formula until he is four to six months old. There is no need to supplement with water, juice or cereal at this time. He should now be on a more predictable schedule and will probably be nursing or drinking 5-6 ounces of formula every 3-4 hours.

Feeding practices to avoid are putting the bottle in bed or propping the bottle while feeding, putting cereal in the bottle, feeding honey, introducing solids before 4-6 months, or heating bottles in the microwave.

My doctor did not recommend cereal until 6 months - and not in a bottle, with a spoon.

Introducing cereal at such a young age can increase the likelihood of the child developing allergies and you don't want to do this. Formula or breast milk has all the nutrients and good stuff that your son needs until he is 4 to 6 months. That's when you think about adding cereal to his diet. Next dr. appointment ask the doc when to start cereal. He'll give you the best advice.

Never put cereal in a bottle.
An infant only needs breastmilk for the first 6 months, after that you can start on cereal and basic veggies.

You should never give baby cereal in a bottle.
Babies are not meant to sleep through the night. Their stomachs are the size of their fist, so need small feeds often.
Giving them cereal is just a lazy parents way of trying not to deal with their childs needs.
Food is meant to be given at about 6 months and should be finger food or on a spoon.
Dont listen to everyone, they are idiots.

NEVER.

You never should put cereal in a bottle, babies can choke on it. There are formulas called AR - with added rice, but you shouldn't use them unless you speak to the doctor first.

Babies generally start cereal BY SPOON around 5 or 6 months old. Before that, they don't need it and aren't ready for it.

Don't give him cereal in his bottle. At two months he is a little young for cereal. Cereal usually fills the baby up (which is great for night sleeping) but causes the baby to drink less formula which is what he needs. i would consult your pediatrician and find out when he/she recommends introducing cereal into your baby's diet. I did my son at 3 months (recommended by 3 different pediatricians for those who say wait till 6 months period) because he was drinking 45-50 oz of formula a day. I didn't put it in his bottle, I spoon fed him with the cereal being really runny and it was only about an ounce/tablespoon or two (He is 2 now so I cant remember exactly)

Never feed a baby cereal out of a bottle. At 2 mths your baby can not digest cereal, wait until the little gaffer is 5-6 mths old. Whats the hurry?

you should never feed your baby cereal through a bottle! You have to wait until their atleat 6 months, and then you still dont fee dthem through a bottle you use a spoon and a bowl so that the baby learns how to eat. You should really talk to a Dr before you start doing this. Its very important for you to do your research before listening to other people I know im a 1st time mother my son is now 6 months and people wanted me to do the same thing I researched online to get real answers. I really hope you do your homework.

You can wait until the child is at least 4 months before you begin with cereal and if you start now, don't give too much in the bottle, just a small amount and alternate the cereal feeding schedule with the regular milk so that you can assess the babies level of tolerance!!!

You should only put milk in a bottle. It's possible that cereals could choke a young baby who is only used to liquids especially if you trick them into taking them by putting them in their bottle.

Babies don't need cereals, and solids should only be introduced at six months and later according to World Health Organisation guidelines.

If you must feed your baby cereals, please don't put them in his bottle. As a rule, if your baby is not ready to accept food from a spoon then he's not ready to be eating it. Just as he's not ready to be eating finger foods if he's not old enough to put them in his mouth himself. Babies mature at their own rate but there is no way that a two month old needs cereal. It probably won't do him terrible harm, don't get me wrong, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Try not to listen to what everyone else says. He is your son, do what you think is right, but make sure you make an informed decision. And congratulations on your new arrival!!
