You have to allow and encourage your child to develop these skills. If you allow them to sit in swings/bouncers/strollers and lie on the floor they have no opportunity to learn.
You must carry them and slowly reduce the amount of support, sit them in your lap and slowly reduce the amount of support. Encourage them to pull up while holding your fingers either from flat on their back or reclined in a swing etc.

Was your baby premature?? You can encourage sitting by sitting child up in a boppy pillow or sitting against you on the floor. Some babies move at their own pace and will do things when their ready. They are not all in sync with the development charts. Crawling some don't do until 9 months old. If this is really something your concerned about you can call your child development office in your school district and they will give your child an assessment to let you know if there really are any problems. I'm sure your baby is on its own development schedule.

Your son should be sitting up anytime now. Don't worry about the crawling... my son didn't crawl until his first birthday. Every baby is different. Those developmental milestones are only estimates... not set in stone. It's doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong if baby takes a little longer. As long as he/she can move his limbs well and doesn't seem to have any issues in that area then he/she just taking their time.

First, babies do develop at different rates. My nephew didn't start to walk until 15 months and was very stiff, but my son was running by 15 months old. (They are only 9 days apart). The best thing to do is to talk with your babies doctor. If the doctor is not concerned but you still are, seek outside help. Depending on the state and county you live in, there are programs that offer free assessments of your babies milestones and gross/fine motor skills, speech etc. Ask your doctor to refer your baby for an assessment. If that doesn't work, contact your county office of education and ask them for the number of the agency that assesses a child of your age. If you are concerned, follow your intuition. I am a special education teacher and early intervention is very important. Talk with the doctor and see what they recommend, but always follow your intuition! You know your baby the best.

Babies develop at their own rate. I wouldn't be concerned. As long as you take him/her to regualr Well Baby Check Up's at the pediatrician's office and the doctor thinks they are okay. Don't worry. Just be glad you don't have to chase the baby yet, becuase once they start crawling, they are never in one place anymore.

every baby is different. is your baby a boy? boys tend to develop certain skills @ a later age than girls. make sure you offer your baby time to be on the floor. @ 7 months i wouldn't worry. if your baby is 1 1/2 years old and not walking then i would be worrying. i'm sure your doctor would tell you not to worry.

Not to be too alarmed, but I know that can be a sign of some serious problems. Have you taken to a Dr. yet? I know of people who had kids that didn't develop that way and there was nothing wrong with them, they were referred to a physical therapist and all was well, but I also know kids that were told that it was a sign of autism.

my son is less than 3mnths and can sit up for a few sec. i just balanced him and adjusted his head so he knew why he kept falling over.
not all kids pick it up quickly, talk to their pediatrician. maybe she can give you pointers on getting your baby started.
