I have a 3 month old little girl. Her name is Aubrey Mae. I don't know what do give her as a good nickname. Right now I call her Punky, and chubba...but I want something thats just between us and I could still use when she's grown...thats just ours.

My baby is almost six weeks old. Lately she has been pulling off of my breast in the evenings. She acts like she's not getting any milk. She nurses great during the night and in the morning, but once 5 or so rolls around she doesn't latch on and nurse well. This continues until about 10 o'clock when she usually just gives up and goes to sleep. Is this a normal pattern? I tried pumping last night after she kept pulling off and I was only able to get an ounce out of both breasts. Why would this be? She seems to be getting plenty of milk throughout the rest of the day. Also she has plenty of wet diapers. Along with this, she gets a red rash on her cheeks when I nurse her. It looks like baby acne bumps but they turn red when she eats and then the redness goes away a while after. Is this normal? I have an app with her doc today, but wanted to check on here also.

Some studies have shown that over half of parents bring their baby into bed with them at least part of the night. And the number that sleep with their infants the whole night is probably considerable as well. In fact, in most countries around the world sleeping with your baby is the norm, not the exception. And what is the incidence of SIDS in these countries? During the 1990s, in Japan the rate was only one tenth of the U.S. rate, and in Hong Kong, it was only 3% of the U.S. rate. These are just two examples. Some countries do have a higher rate of SIDS, depending on how SIDS is defined.

I think my 6 month old is ready to be on a schedule for feedings and naps but I'm not sure how to go about it. I would like her to start having 2 possibly even 3 "meals" a day (cereal, babyfood and fingerfoods) she usually takes 2 long naps a day, occasionally a short 3rd one in the evening. So my question is, would this schedule be reasonable and what changes would you make?

7am 7oz bottle

8am cereal and 1/4 jar fruit

10am nap

11am 7oz bottle

12pm 1/2 jar food and some finger food

1:30pm nap

3:30pm 7oz bottle and snack

7pm 1/2 jar food and finger food

If needed another bottle before bed

Ive been looking for a glider chair and stool for my nursey. I found one for £85.00 which is very good price. However, my partner thinks this is a waste of money, that i should use my computer chair instead to get up and do the night feeds on. How can i make him understand that comfort in nighttime feeds is very important!! Hes really beginning to annoy me and im trying not to lose my temper with him!

Hi everyone!
I have 6 months old girl. I started winning her a month ago. She seems all right to try new tastes but she doesn't like to drink water or even juice. She's not taking it from bottle or cup so I have to give it by spoon. It's working but it's a bit funny to do it in public though. As well I'm giving to her ready Hipp Organic or Heinz Organic veg& fruit purees. I'm not cooking cause she's not eating much so it's not worth cooking a lot. I've heard if she get to use to have ready ones then it will be hard for me to introduce later my own home cooking. Is it true? As well because I want to go for Organic it's cheaper for me to buy for her for now little jars rather then buy all organic veg&fruits for her to cook. This is how I'm feeding her at the moment:
morning 8-9am 30-40 ml water or camomile tea (this is the only time she seems she can drink water or tea) +150-180ml follow on milk
12noon -1pm 150 ml follow on milk + veg puree 5-6 teaspoons+ fruit puree as dessert 3-4 teaspoons+ fruit puree as dessert 3-4 teaspoons + 30-40ml water
4 pm- 150 ml follow on milk + veg puree 5-6t+fruit puree 3-4t+30-40ml water
7-7.30 pm - 150-180ml follow on milk + fruit puree 5-4t (not always) + water
Am I doign right? Is it all right to give all the time follow on milk not infant milk?
What do you think girls? Please, share with your experience.

With so many toys out on the market its hard to decide what to buy my 5 month old daughter. Some of them are expensive so I hate to buy them, only to find out she is not interested in them. We have bought some things already that turned out to be total duds. What did your 5 month old love?

I may be getting circumcised because a doctor said it would help clear my ballanitis infection. Insurance will pay for it, which I'm under my mom's still (I'm 22, in my last yr. of college). So should I tell her about it before or after, or at all? I don't want to make her feel bad like she made the wrong decision by not circumcising as a baby, but is there any way she could find out through insurance? They say it's confidential (the nurses) and that she can't find out, but it IS her insurance. What if she looked into what procedures / medical stuff was covered for the year?

-Thanks

My daughter just loves to feed herself. She hates it when you feed her. I can get a little bit of the baby food down before she throws a fit. We tired giveing her a spoon but now that doesnt work either. What are some fun ideas to feed her?

When I asked a question here on Y!A, somebody said that "pacifiers are not socially accepted" I was like :? ... Why? What's wrong with a paci?... (I mean, of course, for an infant, not for a 5 year old...)
It's very confusing when:
1. the nurse at the hospital tells you "no pacifier"
2. your pediatrician says "it's ok"
3. your mother in law actually gives it to the baby...
4. lots of mothers say "they make their teeth come in crooked"
5. you read in Parents Magazine that the Academy of Pediatrics say it helps prevent SIDS

So... WHO'S RIGHT?.... :S

Sometimes (very rarely) my daughter, who's now 10 months old, wakes up crying in the middle of the night. I check her temperature, diaper, make sure is not an ear infection, gas or teething pain... Now, the doctor and almost everybody I know have told me that if is not any of that, to just lay her back down in her crib and walk away, even if she starts wailing...
But... I just can't! We live with my mother in law, and she has to get up at 5:30 am to go to work; if I let the baby cry my MIL is gonna wake up and try to help me put the baby to sleep, which usually just makes the baby more awake cause she gets to see "nana"... not to mention my MIL is gonna be wiped out at work...
Also, it will wake up my husband, and he gets very upset... (he has no patience)
Am I doing this all wrong? I don't know what to do sometimes...

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my question! I will appreciate any comments.
