I think my 6 month old is ready to be on a schedule for feedings and naps but I'm not sure how to go about it. I would like her to start having 2 possibly even 3 "meals" a day (cereal, babyfood and fingerfoods) she usually takes 2 long naps a day, occasionally a short 3rd one in the evening. So my question is, would this schedule be reasonable and what changes would you make?

7am 7oz bottle

8am cereal and 1/4 jar fruit

10am nap

11am 7oz bottle

12pm 1/2 jar food and some finger food

1:30pm nap

3:30pm 7oz bottle and snack

7pm 1/2 jar food and finger food

If needed another bottle before bed

First of all she has almost 4 teeth (one is still coming through) and second, she mashes food with her gums, the doctor encourages her eating table foods.

First thing in the morning, big bottle...6 oz usually

After first nap, rice cereal as soon as she wakes, followed by fruit (or mixed together...depending on my mood that day).

4 oz Bottle about 45 min to hour later

After second nap, 1/2 jar veggie

4 oz Bottle about 45 min to hour later

After third nap, 1/2 jar veggie, followed by 4 oz bottle, then 2 oz bottle right before bed

I hope that made sense. I'm a little slow today due to a sever lack of sleep.

That sounds like a lot of food for a 6 month old. My son is 6 months and take about 4 bottles a day and a jar of food and he's HUGE (95th percentile). 6 months is still a baby. Why not bottles every 4 hours (6-8 ozs) and a 1/2 jar with lunch and a 1/2 at dinner. You have to remember, they still need to eat about 24+ ozs of formula for all the nutrients

This is pretty much the schedule my son is on except in the evenings he eats around 6 or 6:15. He doesn't do finger foods yet, no teeth and I have tried but he just isn't ready.

He always has another bottle before bed. He has a bath at 8 and then a bottle (8oz w/cereal in it) and then bed by 9

I think this is a very good schedule, but FYI I wouldn't give a 6month old baby finger food. My baby was on a schedule, but I didn't give her any finger food because she wasn't cutting teeth. When she started cutting teeth, I started giving her Finger food. Again the schedule is good, but nooooo Finger Food not yet.

Yes it sounds fine, but she might be to young for finger foods. How many teeth could she possibly have a 6 months!
