With so many toys out on the market its hard to decide what to buy my 5 month old daughter. Some of them are expensive so I hate to buy them, only to find out she is not interested in them. We have bought some things already that turned out to be total duds. What did your 5 month old love?

Don't buy expensive toys, at that age rattles and hand held toys are best, they put everything in their mouth at this age. Do invest on a nice walker though because they will use those until they start walking.

At five months, my baby didn't do much but lay on her back and babble. The most expensive thing I had to buy was one of those Classical Play Gyms. It changes from something that baby lays under, to something sitting on the floor when baby reaches sitting, to something that stands when baby can stand. It was about $35 and at five months, she would lay there and roll back and forth listening to the music and batting at the hanging toys for hours if I'd let her.

Other than that, we bought little inexpensive things because our two daughters at five months old didn't do very much. It was mostly me playing with a stuffed animal or a ball "at" her. Shaking it at her to make it jingle or whatever.

Good luck!

My daughter loved anything that made noise. She also loved rattles. And she had this thing that looked a little like a miniature swingset. There were 3 toys that hung down from it and she liked to lay under there and bat at the toys. But the things she loved most were things I didnt even have to buy-she loved to try and rip up newspapers. And she loved to "dance" with me when I put on music.

my baby is 5 months and one week old. We got her the jumperoo 3 weeks ago. She LOVESSSSSSSSSSSS it. Yeah it's a bit expensive, but worth every penny. you'll know that your baby is safe ( won't fall off) and she'll be exercising her legs and having a good time. My daughter sits in it for half an hour straight, which u know is a break we new moms need ( mainly to do stuff around the house) so what a break :-)

I bought my son a stuffed tiger for valentines day and he absolutely loves it. It is small enough that he can pick it up but big enough that he can wrap his arms and legs around it. Its also very soft and he rubs it on his face when he is getting sleepy. It cost me all of like $3.

He also loves the remote control, my cell phone, measuring cups, and last night we had a grand ole time with a taco bell wrapper for about 5 mins!

What may be a solid investment is an exersaucer. they have have been given ones with a gaggle of toys around them and the little you will get up and play with them, and then sit down it their legs get drained. My son has 2. One at our abode and one at my mom's. He loves them. Plus there is no danger of them strolling out of your sight like with a walker, they could stand, bounce, bounce, sit down and play to their hearts content cloth.

Anything colorful, that can go in her mouth. Especially if it makes a fun noise when she squeezes it. I cleaned out a clear plastic jar and put some lego inside of it and she loves it! (Its noisy, its colorful, it moves, and she can chew on it.It does not get better than that when you are a baby!)

Stuffed animals... like bears and puppies and things

maybe a rattle

at that age they dont really play with toys... trust me, our playroom and their bedrooms looks like toys r us exploded... they really just take up space...
wait until she starts moving around and actually playing..
one of those playmats she might like now though..
good luck and congrats!

when my son was 5 months old he loved anything i would give him... and some things i wouldn't... you can give them just about anything to play with... they're not very picky... give her random stuff from around your house for now... and use the money you save to buy her something bigger when she ca truely enjoy it... in about 3-12 months... hope this helps...

My son loves Larry the Lion by Lamaze. Also, he loves the Leap Frog Learn n' Groove table, the legs come off so we can play with it on his lap or mine...
