I have been invited to my cousin's baby shower. This is her first baby and the family are excited. I have decided to make a gift suitable for the baby in its first six months. I only have limited funts to do this. What do you think I should make? The gift has to be creative, easy to make and suitable for the newborn baby! Thanks.

My daughter refuses to take a pacifier and has recently discovered that sucking her thumb or her fingers is fun. However, she hasn't quite made the transition to do it to self-soothe in order to fall asleep, so her naptimes always start with a good 15-minute crying session. I know some parents worry about their kid and thumb-sucking, but I'm excited for her to find this handy "pacifier" as it might help her fall asleep better on her own. She's four months old now - when did your baby first start sucking his/her thumb or fingers to get himself/herself to fall asleep?

Did you supplement with formula because you thought your baby was starving and not getting enough from the breast (during growth spurts) and if so did a doctor tell you to? or did you have a doctor who told you to let the baby nurse whenever and however often and explained that baby is increasing your supply?

He eats solid food three times a day and about 36 ounces of formula in a 24 hour period. He weighs over 20 pounds and takes 2-3 naps a day. I've tried feeding him later in the evening, feeding him earlier so he'll take another bottle, putting cereal in his bottle, keeping him up later; nothing seems to work. Do some babies just don't sleep through the night until they are older? I feel like my brain is going to explode from the lack of sleep. By the way, this is my third child and I didn't have this problem with my other two.

I'm not looking for the basics here. I'm talking about the comfort items to made you feel special. I'm already planning on body wash, shampoo, conditoner, lip balm, warm fuzzy socks, etc. But what else can you think of that would have been nice to have? This is part of a shower gift for Mom to pack into her hospital bag.

My 7 month old is huge on finger foods, adn I always encourage her, lately her taste in food has become strange to me. Her favorite meal is boiled bell peppers, carrots, squash zuccini and onion and hard boiled egg yolk. As wierd as it is Its all healthy so I dont mind making it, but is she too young to be eating these foods?

My baby is 4 days old and I haven't slept more than a 1/2 hour since the night before he was born. I am lucky to get a solid hour between the end of 1 feeding and the beginning of the next. When will the feedings become more far apart?

But I was kinda hesitant about buying this V-smile for babies but am not sure if there are other toys that are great for babies brain development. Can anyone help me with some tips and experience.

Feeding my daughter has always been a struggle for both of us. First I thought it's she has a very small appetite, then somehow I found out she'd become very fussy and even scream during her meal, and doc finally diagnosed her with reflux. She's now having Zantac, Enfamil AR (thickened), but doesn't seem helping her much. I believe she has already associated the burning pain with the milk, that's what she's taking REALLY little (like 1 or 2 oz in every 3 hrs), but she's gaining weight (10th percentile), so doctor said she's gonna outgrow it. But in the meantime, I really wanna do something to help her. She sometimes even vomits MASSIVE amount and even pour it out from her little nose. It just breaks my heart. I'm already sitting her upright, burp alot, sit her up 30 mins after eating....she's still in pain. I heard goat mik helps, just wanna the reason behind or it's just for certain babies. I can't bear to see her go through this, she's a very happy baby, it just hurts a lot.

My sister is having a baby at any moment (she's due tomorrow) and I'm going to see her next week. What can I bring that'd be useful? Both for her and my new nephew? Nice pajamas? Nursing bras? A pint of ice cream? Flowers? I have no idea what women recovering from childbirth would appreciate. Help!
