feed him bananas before bed. THe potassium will keep him fuller longer and help him sleep some, also make sure that he is awake for at least 3 hours prior to bed time. There is also some lavender baby lotion that you can buy and that may help relax him

At 8 months old, he should be holding his head up very well. My suggestion *as I had a bottomless pit as well* is to not give cereal in a bottle, but make a soupy mixture of the OATMEAL cereal and spoon feed it to him right before bed. It'll be thicker than what he's getting out of the bottle. Make sure you fill him up with the cereal before letting him drink a lot of formula. You might try bananas or pears during the day time as well. Although he may take formula in between, try solids for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and try to start a schedule that way. Another thing to try is when he gets up at night, don't talk to him, keep the lights off or low. Rock him and give him his bottle, and as soon as he's done, put him back in bed. It will take a while, but it should help.

Your baby doesn't sleep through the night because you insist on perpetuating his bad habit instead of helping him stop it. There is NO WAY a baby of the description above NEEDS to eat during the night. That's absurd. He has a bad habit which you, as the parent, need to help him break. A week, or less, of making him cry it out when he wakes and this problem will be SOLVED. Put him to bed on a full tummy, clean diaper, nightlight, white noise, short bedtime routine. Leave the room adn close the door. DON'T GO BACK TILL MORNING. Repeat as necessary. Every night, every nap. It will only take your smart baby (after all, he's got you wrapped around his little finger, he's obviously brilliant) a few nights to understand that the midnight parties are over.

2-3 naps a day? Are they short ones or long ones? That may be the case,if the naps are too long wake your baby up so he will be more tiresome throughout the night. This is a great time to start as the daylight savings time clocks will change on the 11 th of this month.

Mine just got the hang of sleeping through the night (he's 15 months) and even every now and then he'll wake up in the middle of the night.....It's hard I know but every baby is different....believe me I envy all the mothers who's baby's slept through the night from very early on.....Just stick it out....and my advice is...when he takes those naps during the day...you nap with him!

my son is 1 and has only just started to sleep through. i think some babies just don't sleep through until older.
It sounds like you have tried everything. the only thing i can suggest is see if you can get someone in to help so you can sleep, and i would try sleeping through the day while he is sleeping. Where does he sleep? Try him in bed with you, he might last the night feeling you close(that's of course if you haven't all ready)
The only thing I can tell you for sure is he will eventually sleep through
good luck

Mine didn't sleep thru the night until 10 months-almost 11. I read somewhere that babies who were going to be larger adults don't sleep all night until later. Must have been true-he is 6'2"!

That doesn't seem normal to me either. I know it sounds weird but is there anything you craved while you were pregnant and didn't eat. I know a friend that went through something similar and she craved something and didn't eat it. Then she gave it to her baby and she was fine. Other than that you may want to talk to a doctor.
