swaddling (wrapping tightly in blanket), nursing or pacifier, and sit in the rocking chair with them or lay in bed next to them. The closeness, warmth, and comfort sucking always worked with my babies!
be patient, they won't stay awake forever! and as soon as those little eyes close, take a nap yourself!

You don't.
You can calm a fussy baby by rocking them, wrapping them snugly, not tightly in a blankie and by playing soft music, not rock music turned low, but soft classical music.
A baby under 6 weeks old has very basic needs and they do very little else than sleep, eat and fill their diapers. If an infant is crying, you can be sure that it's for a very good reason.

depends on the age of the baby. I wouldnt get too into rocking a baby to sleep...because they will get used to it and depend on that to fall asleep...seriously..how long do you want to do that for?? for my 4 mo old twins I feed them..change them..swaddle them give them their pacifiers and put them awake into bed. It was a little rough at first..I would have to go into the room constantly to calm them down by rubbing their bellies...but now they fall asleep on their own pretty much instantly! Its the best thing I could have ever done, it frees up alone time for me and their dad to spend together

if you have a car put them in the car and drive for a couple minutes until they fall asleep.............if you don't have a car just wrap them up in a blanket and rock them gently and sing very softly to them trust me no baby ca resist any of those!
