k do u think this is rite, in stonewall m.b. the jr. high is trying this nutrition break thing and to make sure that the kids are exercising they broke up the gr. 7&8's into small groups, and each group is either in the gym, in the square cup stacking or outside FORCED to play soccer, football, 4square or walk around the school. During the 1st 20 min. the gr.8 are exercising and the 7's are eating, then the 2nd half its the opposite. And just to let you know the kids are separated from their friends!

do you think this is right ... should i start a petition to stop this?

My son is 9 and really starting to question Santa. I know he'll eventually figure it out...but I'd like to perpetuate the myth as long as I can...I may only have this year to do it. When he was little, we'd leave a few cookie crumbs and a little milk at the bottom of the glass. Last year I wrote him a letter on paper I burnt around the edges...good thing he didn't notice the similarity to my handwriting! He's written "Santa, Are you real? If so, come to my room." on the back of his list this time. Any thoughts for this year? Thanks and happy holidays!

When my six year old gets unset or mad, or even doesnt get his way, he clams up. I call it being quiet boy. He simply will not talk to me. I think he is doing this to get attention. So I send him up to his room and tell him, he can come out when he is ready to talk. A few minutes later, he comes down and says Im ready to talk again, like nothing ever happened. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it?

Im a special needs monitor on a school bus and im having a veryyy hard time keeping a 6 year old awake on the bus.. The first of the year i read to her and all the other kids on the bus and that worked.. now they dont want me to read to them ( the boys ) and she wants to read herself so she reads her books and that makes her fall asleep even faster now.. I have talked with mom many times and she does send stuff for her to do the other day she sent a puzzle thing that seemed to work but yesterday she fell right asleep again. At the beginning of the school year she hit her head a few times but she was okay but if she hits it hard one day we have to pull the bus over call dispatch and they have to send a albluence and check her out that is board policy now so we really dont want that to happen...

Any sugestions on how to keep her awake??? I try to talk to her as much as possiable i ask her what she did in class to keep her awake but she just keeps shutting her eyes lol

I've always been right there to pick my son up from school, but one day I was standing in the same spot as usual & he didn't see me & I didn't see him. His classmates walked past me, but somehow I didn't see him walk past. I waited a minute thinking what I should do, so I walked into his classroom & his teacher said he walked out w/ the rest of the kids. Again I went outside to look for him, but couldn't find him. I went around the building (still looking) and into the principals office to find him sitting in a chair crying. That was 5 days ago & now he is worried that I won't find him & has cried off & on at school every day. I promised him that I will not let it happen again & that I will ALWAYS be there, etc, etc., but it does not seem to be comforting him & is making it really hard to drop him off knowing that he is probably going to cry again.....Any suggestions?

. . . about Jamie Lynn Spears? On the show, Zoe is the kind of girl who's weary about even kissing a boy. Obviously, in real life, the actress is quite different. Other than being sexually active, what about her decision to have a baby at such a young age? Should I bring this up with my daughter even if my daughter doesn't bring it up first?

Ok- this is a tough one. My son was suspended from school today along with another little boy for 2 days. My son found empty bullet shells in our garage and at the bottom of the box, an old 9mm bullet. He never told us he found it-he told his friend at school he found it and he asked my son to bring it in. My son hesitated and said no on Monday-then Tuesday he asked him again-he caved and brought it in today. The math teacher caught them and whalla! Principles office. When I picked him up she said he was very honest about it but made a huge wrong choice at school! My husband has spoken to him about gun safety, knife safety, etc. and like me (admittedly) he thought that a bullet wouldn't harm anyone without a gun. The other kid's Dad is more furious with his own son because he is a Sheriff and his son he feels should know better than mine. Other than the suspension-what other punishment would a fellow parent recommend and for how long? This one is tough for me...

a contract for you. To be compromise to her/him. My daughter it is 8 yrs; and did a contract to her dad. demanding to spend more time with her and to take certain places. When I asked her why? she told it is because he dont keep his word. So by having him signing in he is obligate to do it. (I Wonder what she would do, if he dont do what is on the contract. would she get a lawyer too...)

Thanks in advance..

Do your kids grandparent play favorites between your kids. My oldest seems to be the favorite of my father in law. She calls and says hows my favorite granddaughter doing or when he sends christmas money to them its all grossly in favor of my oldest.

My oldests birthday was in may, grandad sent 50.00 to her for her birthday. My other daughter who is 2 years youngers birthday was Monday and there has yet to be anything from grandad for her not even a card.

we have told my father in law that he has to be fair to both. My youngest asked why grandpa didn't send her anything like her sister. What do you tell her. He could have sent a card at least. HE didn't even call her on her birthday. How pathetic is that.

My 8 year old daughter always has a runny nose. She is on an allergy medicine for when she gets bad, but every day she has an extremely runny nose. Everytime she sneezes, her nose runs to the point where she has to catch it with her hand and run into the bathroom. Her doctor says there's really nothing they can do for her. Does anyone know of any tricks that she can do/use everyday to stop her nose from running so much? She is getting older now so I know it is getting embarassing for her.

Also, this happens literally every day.....regardless of what season it is.
Thanks!

I have 6 year old daughter going on 16. and a 15 month baby.
my daughter is becoming very defiant and rebellious it is like living with jeckyl and hyde. She can be the sweetest little girl in the world and the next she is talking back and slamming doors like a teenager. I am strict on disipline and send her to the corner or bed and sometimes get her to write out what she did wrong and what she should do instead.
its probably normal. But would like to hear from anyone with similar issues.
thanks guys

I like our sitter, she is about 4 yrs younger than me in a bad situation - single mom and all that - she is also a daughter of a friend. The thing is her son we let her bring him with and a lot of her time is spent catering to him (he's a baby, and I understand, but it cuts into her time to do her job with my son). She also gets frustrated with him crying and will be very harsh with him and I am not comfortable with how she talks to her son. We have talked about this and making sure she manages time better and it was getting better - but ...

Then today, I left our son with her here and when I came back after 4 hrs only 2 of my sons 6 pages of work was done and she was laying down with her baby and mine was in his room with his door shut playing video games.

It was the last straw. I had my husband pay her and I went in my room and calmed down without saying anything. I don't know how to fire her - I always feel guilty when I am about to.

I want to have a talk with my six-year-old daughter about what to do if somebody tries to touch her in an inappropriate way, but I don't want to freak her out either. She's starting to participate in more activities where I'm not always present -- dance lessons, play dates, camp, etc. -- and I want to walk through with her what is inappropriate touching, ideas about what to do if somebody makes her uncomfortable, and to always tell me, and so on. Can anyone recommend any books or websites that would help me raise the topic with her in a non-threatening way? Any ideas for how to have this discussion without making her think the world is full of scary people who will be trying to grope her?

My 5 yr old son got in big trouble for trying to steal a piece of candy at Wal-mart after I said he could not have any. So, since he was so stingy that he tried to steal I told him to pick out one of his presents under the tree and give it to me, and I plan on taking it back to the store. So he has been sad all day about it. Stealing was very bad and I want him to learn his lesson, but he really is upset about the present. I feel like the Grinch. Should I allow him to have it back? He would have to earn it somehow. Or should I stick to my guns because he tried to steal?

for anyone who has usefull input. my son is six. he was diagnosed with adhd when he was 3. after several trips to the e.r. we realized he does not have the enzyme to breakdown medication, so he takes nothing. we have had continuous problems with daycare, and now school. he is in kindergarden and testing out on a second grade level, but they cannot controle him at school. he is in constant trouble. yesterday he got suspended from school. my new concern is that hi eyes are constantly dialated. i never thought anything about it before, because they have always done this, until another person brought it to my attention. now he is complaining about headachs. everyones first reaction is 'its medication" but he takes no medication, none at all. can anyone help me with any of my problems?
