This weekend is my 8 year old son's birthday party. I invited some of the boys in his class. Since I hadn't received many rsvp's, I called all the children's parents, who'd not responded. One of these mothers was so rude to me and was acting like I'd caught her at a bad time or something. I quickly explained that I was only asking because I needed a head count for food, etc. She actually said her son would attend. I was quite surprised since she sounded completely pissed at me or something. So, if she and her son do show up, I'm afraid she's going to do or say something to ruin his party. I asked my son which boy hers was and he said, "Oh, he's the one who needs to lose weight!" Oh boy. My wheels got spinning and I realised that this boy is probably being made fun of by the kids in the class and this Mom is going to use my son's party as a way of getting even. What should we do?

Its coming in on her gums under her tounge instead of straight up. We're going to the dentist in the morning (I just noticed it today when I was pretending to look at her teeth like I look at my infants gums while making a funny noise, just to explain) but I'm just wondering what the dentist might do. I don't want to go in totally clueless and I'd like to prepare my daughter if they have to do anything kind of scary.

Where does our school taxes go towards? I pay $80 for school fees for each child....buy ALL their school supplies plus more for kids that can't afford them. Since school has started both the kids have sent papers home for $5, $10 here and there for field trips, more school supplies, parties. I know kids are rough on supplies but it gets a little pricey.

3 Other kids were sent home with lice. She was not because they only found a few nits. The nurse said to treat her like she has a full fledged infestation. How do I prevent her from getting them again. 2 of the kids are her close friends. Any tips on what to do? I looked thru her hair and pulled out 2 nits but they came out easily. I thought nits stick to the hair shafts like glue. These were about 2-3 inches from scalp.

She has just about everything she could possibly want at her mother's house. She been really into computer games lately, so I bought her this make a teddy bear game I found on clearance at Target, since she loves that kind of stuff right now. The thing is, we just had a baby and so we've got a lot of medical bills, since we had an insurance coverage problem and are in the process of fixing it. She wants a Nintendo DS, and every accessory. Thing is, she's 7, has been doing poorly in school, not been listening to her mother or me, just her Dad, and frankly I don't think she deserves it or will take care of it. What is a good and much cheaper alternative?

My daughter now 11 year old is born left handed. Due to our ignorance, we tried to teach her the 'right' way including writing. She has poor motoring skills and is not doing well in school due to difficulty in concentration. I just learned that this could be due to "convergence problem" because of our intervention to switch her from left to right. Now encouraging her to use which ever hand she is most comfortable with. Any other things we can do to help her further? Thanks!

Today my roommate's son told his teacher. That his mind told him to play so he listening to his mind and not the teacher. So it seems to me that he ( the child) thinks his mind is separate from him. He can't stay in his sit. He gets in trouble for stupid things like talking to hisself. He doesn't sit with the class. He sits in the back away from the other students. He seems impulsive. He acts on whatever he feels. Regardless to the rule and he can repeat the rules without fault . He is six years old. I'm just afraid he will be labelled as ADD or whatever. I don't have children and I've only babysat for child still in diapers. I don't understand six year old. His parent has spanked him, done time out, stand in the corner, no play time, talked to him. He doesn't seem bothered that he not allowed to go outside and play because of his behavior. His prilvileges are taken away and he doesn't seem to care. Parents what should he ( the parent) do. Should he be concerned?

I'm shopping for a family for Christmas and I have no idea what size the girl wears. I picked their name off of a Christmas "shopping" tree. All it says is that the girl is 12 years old. I went to the store and L is size 10/12 and XL is size 14/16, there is no size 12/14. I don't know which size to get her because I'm worried that the 10/12 will be too small and the 14/16 will be too big. WHat size would you get?

My newly adopted daughter has had a few new things pop up in her room. T-shirts that aren't hers, some cheaper looking MP3 player thing - hers is taken away due to behavior, belts, rings, CD's etc.... I notice these things when I go in and lay clothes on her bed. I have even found a few things of mine. She always has some excuse. We adopted from foster care and privacy is a big thing with her. She has never minded me being in her room and has never tried to hide anything, but I am feeling the need to start taking closer looks to see what more things are popping up. I fear she may be taking things from friends at school, and that bothers me. I want her to make friends and not enemies. Whould it be an envasion of her privacy if just went in and went through everything? Thanks!
