Pregnancy & Parenting - 20 December 2007

I'm currently 7 months pregnant. My dad keeps trying to come up with an idea for a service that him and my mother can pay for to help out my husband and I after the baby is born.

First he wanted me to check on pricing for a maid. While that idea isn't completely out of the question it might be a little difficult. By difficult I mean he wants to pay for a maid that actually would do dishes and help with laundry, different things that would be helpful while getting used to the baby. The second thing is I really think a maid service like that is probably going to cost too much, in my opinion.

His second idea was to pay for a diaper service. My husband and I are doing cloth diapers for multiple reasons. After researching a diaper service I realized that you don't get to have your own diapers. You are using diapers that other have used. Plus I don't like the fact that someone else would be washing my baby's diapers with Lord knows what products. To be continued...

I went to the doctor to find out I've gained 20 pounds. When I first got preggo I was only 114 and I'm 5'5. Now I am 136 pounds, and really the weight looks good on me, I'm just wondering if my weight gain is on track? I know I was so little to begin with thats really why I havent worried about gaining the 20 pounds. Let me know...

I am waiting for my 2nd baby to come along the first was stubborn ( and still is) and she only came out after induction WHICH WAS AWFUL i am now 36 weeks and really hoping to avoid the same situation so was just wondering if anybodys first baby was late how long did u have to wait for the second thank you

My 5 month old is on solids and doing great. He's a very good eater. He has gone through all the first veggies now. Tried each one at a time and I waited 3-5 days inbetween each one. He loves them all. I am wondering if I should go ahead and start him on the fruits or keep with the veggies for a couple weeks? I dont want to start the fruits and have him hate the veggies afterwards. But I just love letting him try new things. And also, since he hasnt had any reactions is it alright to give him 2 different veggies at one meal, or in one day?

One of my best friends' mums is having a lil girl around Christmas time (24th-26th) and wants names. My friend (Summer Rose) came in to school with a list of names decided on by her mum to get our opinions. The name is the final 10 and her mum won't change her mind.... needless to say that although we didn't like the names we just said oh there all nice but we can't choose a favourite! The names are all summery because her mum wants a happy name...... The final 10 are;

The middle name will be either Daffydole or a country (either Australia, Ireland or Emmerika (america). Before you say do they live on a council estate, they don't.
The already have 3 kids; 2 girls 1 boy (Summer Rose, India Skye and Neyar Junell (born on New years day and the granny is June).

Why when I try to pump milk using my breastpump does it seem to take so long to get a few drops of milk out? Its so much effort that I find it easier just to be around the baby all the time. This is my second child - I had same frustration with the first although I did breastfeed for 6 months, but didnt express

My baby is just over 3 weeks - Im lucky to pump 2 ounces within an hour and a half

Any advice as to breast pumps. Is 2 ounces a good amount for a newborn?

I even bought another manual breastpump, thinking the first was faulty, but same problem with small amount a milk a time

I just broke up with my kids dad my 3 year old boy is having a hard time I am scared he might get sick he hardly eats he's quiet and he stays laying down watching tv. My son is 9 and really starting to question Santa. I know he'll eventually figure it out...but I'd like to perpetuate the myth as long as I can...I may only have this year to do it. When he was little, we'd leave a few cookie crumbs and a little milk at the bottom of the glass. Last year I wrote him a letter on paper I burnt around the edges...good thing he didn't notice the similarity to my handwriting! He's written "Santa, Are you real? If so, come to my room." on the back of his list this time. Any thoughts for this year? Thanks and happy holidays!

okay so did anyone measure small when they were pregnant and still give birth when they were due? cause at my 24 wk appointment i was measuring 22 wks, and at my 28 wk appointment i was measuring 26 wks, and that kind of worries me, I don't think my baby is growing correctly, cause i'm not that big, like everyone I know was really big when they were 30 wks preggerz, and i'm still small, and i'm pretty petite too, so shouldn't i be bigger?

Have you ever used both and which kind do you prefer? i may have gotten an extremely light positive line on a test but it also very well could be in my imagination.. so lets say for example if there is a very small amount of the pregnancy hormone in my system will the digital say pregnant or will it be hard to read also? ive never used a digital before. thank you!!

My sister in law went shopping yesterday. Last week she was 1cm and 50%. She is due jan 6th. Well yesterday she started contracting. She said over 3 hours they started to get stronger and the to be pretty strong and 4 mins apart she went to the hospital. She got there and they told her she was 60% and 3 cms and baby -2. They were really doing anything on the machine but she was even crying from the pain. She said pressure and pain she had and contractions- she knows because this is her 3rd baby. So they sent her home after bleeding from the exam. She said she got a good chunk from her touching the cervix. She still had contractions all night and now today really nothing but a few. Why would she start like that and then do nothing. The doctor also said they couldn't do anything because the baby was still at -2 if the baby was lower then they could start by braking the water. What do you think? Did this happen to any of you and what did you go into labor about?

Im 37 weeks pregnant and my partner is driving me mad. At night he snores like an animal and keeps me awake all night. There is nothing worse and Im shattered. When I wake him to tell him he says 'how can I be snoring Im awake!!' He wont go to the doctors because he dont believe he snores. Please help me before I stick a knife in him!!!!
