He's too young for anything except breast milk or formula, that's why he's rejecting all the different kinds of food. He's just not ready. Babies don't need solids until they're at least six months old, and then they're really only learning how to eat, and their main diet should still consist of breast milk or formula.

A lot of ppl don't wait until the baby's six months old. Some will even start as early as three months... but I'd say 8 weeks is pushing it a bit.

Does he still breastfeed every 2 - 4 hours, have 6 - 8 wet diapers a day (with the occassional poop one in between?) and gaining weight? If he is, he's doing just fine and you can wait with any other food.

An 8 week old should't be getting foods other than breast milk or formula. As long as your baby is breastfeeding frequently, having regular wet and poopy diapers, and is gaining well, he's doing fine. Wait until he's about 6 months old to start solids, when his digestive tract is mature enough to handle them. Early solids replace breast milk in his diet; right now, he needs the calories and nutrients in your milk to grow well and be healthy. Early solids are also linked to food allergies and other long-term health problems.

If he's refusing to breastfeed, you'll want to contact a La Leche League Leader or IBCLC. He needs to eat. You might need to express your milk and feed him your milk via cup, dropper, or bottle. If he's regularly getting bottles, he may be showing signs of nipple confusion. You'll want some in-person help to get him back to the breast.

If he's less than a year old, most of his nutrition should be coming from breast milk (or formula) anyway, so there's no need to worry if he doesn't want much food yet. If he's younger than 6 months, he shouldn't be getting any solids at all.

he could be on a "nursing strike" i had a son that did that and if you only offer the breast and he wont take it, dont offer anything else. he will eat when he gets hungry. i promise.

You need to be more specific. What age is the baby, what are you feeding him? is he sick? Has he always been like this?
