Mommy of Four's answer did not make sense. If a human mother's milk is specifically for a human baby (more accurately, her offspring), then, of course, cow's milk is specifically for her calves.
Cows are treated to be constantly pregnant and lactating to produce milk for humans. It might be a cheap source of calcium, but there are other sources as well, such as broccoli, leafy greens and soy. (I can but a pound of frozen broccoli or spinach, or a block of tofu all for a dollar each.)
I've pumped my breast milk for my daughter out of choice. It's not as enjoyable to sit and pump as what it is to feed my daughter. I have actually thought of the cows who are not given the choice and their cows who don't even get milk. Poor things.
If the opportunity presented itself, I would donate my milk (after my daughter was weaned) to a breast milk bank.

no you wont get sick from it.
Lactating women donate their milk to hospitals for the critically ill who's immune systems are compromised, generally theyre small children or infants. Usually aids patients.
We dont drink human milk because people cant produce as much milk as a cow. It would be more costly. And being treated like an animal for the production of mass food is degrading and no woman would willingly do it.

We drink animal milk (not just cow's milk, but goats and others, depending on what part of the world you live in) because it's readily available. Actually, no adult needs to drink milk at all, but in the US it's a cheap, widely available source of calcium, fat, and other nutrients. Dairy animals have been bred for hundreds of years to produce more milk than their babies need. In most dairy farming, animals are continuously lactating or pregnant. The babies are taken from the mothers soon after birth and are fed by bottle. Most human women wouldn't tolerate having their milk given to others and not to their own babies. Humans make much less milk than dairy cows, and most human women don't want to be lactating non-stop.
Drinking human milk won't hurt you, no matter what age you are. It's high in nutrients and calories, so would be good nutrition no matter what your age. Adults sometimes are given banked human milk due to various medical conditions. For instance, people with severe food allergies may benefit from the anti-inflammatory properties of human milk. Some cancer patients also drink human milk. Human milk banks typically provide milk based on need, and human infants (particularly premature infants) are much more likely to need human milk than adults.

Originally, humans started drinking cow milk because it was more efficient at providing fat and protien than slaughtering the cow and eating the meat. Cows can eat grasses and grans that humans can't digest, and cows provided an indirect way for humans to use that nutrition.
Human milk won't make you sick, unless you have problems with lactose. There's more lactose in human milk than in cows' milk.

Because we have had it pounded into our heads that dairy is healthy for us and that we need it. In reality, we need the NUTRIENTS in milk, which we can get from other foods.
I don't think it would make you sick to drink breast milk. You don't need it though. People only need milk for the first few years of their life. And it's supposed to be human milk. That's why it annoys me when people are grossed out by extended breast feeding.

No, breast milk is very nutritious. It doesn't taste very good I might add. You can drink all you want. But I would save it for the baby.

We don't have enormous udders with 4 teats to provide gallons of milk for the masses.

we drink milk from a cow because a mothers milk is designed for babies, its less fatty and doesn't have the nutrients adults needs.
If you drank breast milk now as an adult you wouldn't get sick it just wouldn't provide you much nutrition
