A lot of people says it hurts - but if most women can get past it.. especially those with more than one(1) child, then I am sure you'll do just fine. =) Both my mom and sister had natural birth, no epidural or any other drugs.... although my sister in law got epidural.. she said she couldn't feel anything. Good luck!

Mine felt totally different from menstral cramps. Menstral cramps are a sharp pain, similar to abdominal cramps. Labor is a dull aching, stretching feeling. It comes and goes, so it gives you a break.

I didn't feel anything until my water broke. Then Really bad cramps, worse when the contractions are one on top of the other...so the pain doesn't subside. I opted for the epidural about that time.

They'll be no mistaking them. I thought I was having them due to Braxton Hicks. Labor pains are INTENSE. Not to scare you but it feels like someone is pulling you apart. But once you get the epidural it's all good.

Like the others I agree that it s like period cramps or a bad dose of diarrhoea cramp. I didn't have epidurals on either of mine and survived to tell the tale. Its not so bad that you wont have another one, otherwise the human race would have died out by now.!

Mine started as menstral like contactions, your stomach will harden and then soften from the outside. then the pains just get more intense usually after your water breaks. breathing through them really helps. screaming makes the pain worse from what I hear. just calming and breathing . Good luck:)

its like a really painful menstrual cramp, that u feel coming and it gets more intense with each contraction, starts off cramping till it reaches its peak! then it fades until your next one! its a really hard pain to explain, so that's the best way i can describe it.

Really bad cramps, they could be in your back and in your lower abdomen, in your legs. Call your doctor its better to be safe then sorry. Also time your pain, if you are feeling any.

They do hurt! They can take your breath away. But in the end when you hold your baby, you will forget all the pain and it will be all worth it.
