Remember first not to compare your weight gain to other peoples, everyone's body handles pregnancy differently, so evereyone's weight-gain is going to be a little different as well! Here is a great link with information on weight gain during pregnancy;
http://www.babycenter.com/0_pregnancy-weight-gain-what-to-expect_1466.bc
Here is an average breakdown of where all the extra pounds are going!
Baby = 7-8 pounds
Placenta = 1-2 pounds
Amniotic fluid = 2 pounds
Uterus = 2 pounds
Maternal breast tissue = 2 pounds
Maternal blood = 4 pounds
Fluids in maternal tissue = 4 pounds
Maternal fat and nutrient stores = 7 pounds
Says you should gain:
25-37 pounds: If you were a healthy weight before pregnancy
28-40 pounds: If you were underweight before pregnancy
15-25 pounds: If you were overweight before pregnancy
Sounds like you would fit closer into the underweight category so you're on track, just be careful you're not goin overboard, gaining too much puts you at higher risk of
developing diabetes during pregnancy, and is WAY harder to get off. If your doctor isn't worrying though, I wouldn't worry either, just stay active and keep eating healthy!
CONGRATULATIONS & GOOD LUCK!!!

It's fine. I was tiny before I got pregnant with a flat belly and everything. I am 37 weeks now and have gained 40 lbs! WHen people see me they say things like "omg your so small what have you gained only 25?" and then I tell them how much I have gained and they look at me and say "Where?" You gotta remember the water weight, the extra blood flow weight, etc etc.... Whatever you gain now you will lose at the end. We spend all our lives counting calories, avoiding carbs, sugars, sodas, exercising, staying in shape etc... so its okay to splurge some when you get the chance. You will lose it all in the end. If your body needs you to gain the weight, you will gain no matter what you do. Some women can eat healthy through the whole pregnancy and exercise every day and still gain a good amount of weight, and some women can eat everything they see in sight and barely gain anything. If your body needs it, it will get it somehow. Hormones also do some strange things to our bodies too. So dont worry about it. Unless your doctor has a problem, you shouldn't have a problem. Goodluck and congrats

You were only small to begin with so 20 pounds is ok. I'm almost 22 weeks and have gained 13 pounds but I am a bigger woman.

I am 20 weeks pregnant and I've gained 19 pounds so far. I am also small framed. I am 5'9" and I started at 117 pounds.
I think that our bodies will do what they need to do to support our baby's.
Don't worry about it. This is the time to gain weight. Never deny yourself food. Make sure it's nutritious.
Best of luck on a healthy pregnancy!!

I had gained slightly more than that by that time in my first pregnancy. However, I lost 5 pounds more than I gained, so I wound up weighing less. I gained 55 pounds with my pregnancy.

I've gained 30 pounds and im 39 weeks my doctor tells me everytime that Im gaining too much weight. I started out at 150. I'm honestly not too worried about it though, because I know I can loose it. You just dont want to gain too much, because its going to be harder to get rid of it after you have the baby.

sweetie, by 23 week, I had gained 30lbs. I'm 40 weeks + 5 days now and I've gained a total of 42lbs! It doesn't matter how much you gain, as long as you gain. Everyone is different.

If your doc wasn't concerned....don't be concerned.
That was me at 21 weeks, and my OB said I'm fine. Some women gain more. Just watch what you eat and if your excersizing,.....keep it up!
Best of Luck to You.

yeah it sounds about normal, especially since you were underweight before pregnancy. underweight woman should usually gain about 35pounds over the whole 40weeks of pregnancy so sounds like you are right on track.
