I am due today, and have been measuring small the whole time. I kid you not, I am wearing the same jeans I wore before I got pregnant. I am not a heavy person, but I have a long torso, so it could be the way the baby is laying in me. At 30 weeks, I measured 26 weeks, at 36 weeks I measured 31 weeks and had an 4th ultrasound done. The baby is measuring a little on the small side, but nothing that was a cause for concern. I have only gained about 18lbs despite my efforts to gain more, and that is just the way my body is. My latest ultrasound estimated that my baby weighed about 6lbs (at 37 weeks).
It can be the way you carry the baby, it can be the position of the baby, it could be how low the baby is, it could be that you will have a smaller child than average (like a shorter baby). I would not worry, measuring 2 weeks behind isn't really anything to be concerned with... and if it is, your doctors will do the proper testing and take proper actions!

I measured small for both my pregnancies, one was full term and over a few days, and with her I measured about 3-4 weeks smaller, at 36 weeks I measured 32-3 cms and my baby was born weighing 7 lbs 3 ounces. With my second one, I measured small again, and then at 32 weeks I measured 31 and at 36 weeks I measured 28, so I went to the hospital, had my baby and she was early (born at 36 weeks because I was induced) and she weighed 4 lbs 9 ounces.
You don't say if you are exercising a lot. The fact that you are petite also contributes to your size. You are a smaller person, so therefore your baby will be smaller. As long as you are eating well, feeling movements, then all should be fine. If you are really that worried, see about getting a scan.
Oh yeah one other thing, don't compare yourself to other people. You are you, and other people are other people. I had people come up to me after my second one was born and tell me that they didn't even realize I was pregnant. I could also hide my first pregnancy depending on how I dressed.
Good luck with everything. Get an ultrasound if you are nervous about baby's development and growth. All the best.

I had 4 ultrasounds done, 2 of them were to check and make srue the baby was developing fine b/c i measured so small! At 36 weeks I measured 30 cm. and didn't grow much more after that. The whole pregnancy I measured small. There was NOTHING wrong with my daughter, she was just small :) 6 pounds and 4 ounces....if you're petite more than likely you'll have a tiny baby, no matter how big the father is!

Not neccessarily! I for one am a very petite person, and with my first pregnancy, I didn't even start to show until I was 7 1/2 months pregnant and then I had my daughter like 3 weeks after I started showing - she was born 3 weeks early and weighed in at a hefty 7 lbs 8 oz, and was 21 1/2 inches long. I am currently 7 months pregnant with baby #2 and I am just now barely starting to show - you can't really tell that much through my clothes unless you look twice though. It is totally different for every person. Some women carry differently than others (I carried more towards my back and wider instead of out in front, which unfortunately, gave me a heap o' back problems).

I was small with my last pregnancy. I gained a whole 14 lbs through the whole pregnancy. My daughter was born 7.8lbs, full term and healthy. Not everything is exactly the same on the charts for each person. The charts/measurements they use are only an estimate.

If you are already petite then 9 times out of 10 you wont get as big as lets say an already larger woman. I am sure if there was a problem with your pregnancy growth, the docs would let you know. Breath easy, I am sure baby is growing just fine.
Good luck!

Some ob's don't measure bellies any more for this reason.
If there was a concern, I am sure your OB or midwife would have shared it with you by now.
You are only measure at a 2wk difference. If you measured a 4 wk difference then I would be more concerned.

Measuring your belly only determines that you're growing and not getting smaller. Its based on averages, not scientific measurements. Its NOT a way to know how the baby is developing, AT ALL.
You're fine. Your internal anatomy and the placement of your baby as it grows is unique to YOU, and that doesnt mean its going to follow the rules of averages.
You're fine, if youre doctor was concerned you'd have a scan.

My sis has always had small babies. Her first was measured at 36wks and she delivered at 39wks. Her twins measured larger, but each baby was tiny. The boy was 5lbs 15oz and the girl was 4lbs 15oz when born. They are all healthy now. Her twins are still undersized for their age (in the 15th percentile) but that is kind of expected with twins.

Not necessarily. Some women are big when they are pregnant and some are not. It really depends on your genes. If your mom was big or small when she was pregnant. Have you talked to your doctor about your concerns? If not I would recommend that because it could be one less worry that you will have to face. Hoped this helped. Good luck!!!
