Pregnancy & Parenting - 14 November 2007

My husband and I are expecting our first child (boy) in February. We both like the name Weston, but are not 100% set on that as a final choice. Here are a few combinations we have come up with so far...

Kevin Weston (Kevin = hubby's name / baby would go by Weston)
Weston Tucker (Tucker is my Grandparents last name)
Weston Parker (Parker is from "Lake Parker" - where my husband proposed to me.)

Feel free to tell us what you think or give us any other suggestions! We want to stay away from common names such as David or Michael, and would also prefer to not have any names that start with the letter 'J'.

My son is 13 months he can walk crawl open the door stand sit and go to sleep by his-self should he be doing more? should he be saying 3 or more words by now? I guess mostly I need to vent. I'm 31 and have had nothing but problems with my pregnancy. I went through a lot of doctors and finally found one that I liked. I ended up having placenta previa - and I didn't even have a single risk factor for it.
I just found out that I'm full blown diabetic too. My doctor is dropping me and wants to send me to county (I'm on medicaid because I'm a student right now). I'm scared as hell because I have a feeling I'm going to need a c-section and I trusted my doctor. Now he's punting me to county. I told his nurse that I'm scared as hell to go to county and they'll "call me" .
Has anyone ever gone thru this? I'm scared as hell. Not only do i have 2 complications, but now i'm also dealing with type 2 the rest of my life.

Any words of advice would really be appreciated, and please only positive comments. I'm stressing out like crazy. Between all this, I have to finish my last semester in college and graduating finally :( pls help.

I'm thinking about naming my daughter April in the event of which I have one. what do you think?

I think I want to name her April because I think it is a very creative name (not the first one ofcourse but) and I love the month of April myself. Also it is a very rare name. It is not too out there and not too under the radar.

my mom keeps sending me lists of baby names, and she got me a baby name book which she rated the names with stars & blacked out some of them entirely (so they're unreadable)...
and when i told her the names we were considering, she basically said "no, those won't do" and has continued trying to push names on us.
should i just smile & nod, and (of course) name the baby what we decide, or should i say something more to her? if so, what?

I am so scared for the actual act of giving birth. I do not like doctors and surgeries or hospitals. I am so afraid of the pain during and after. Seeing movies and hearing horror stories from other women about how they were cut down there have made me so petrified. I am not pregnant yet, I am afraid to get pregnant because then I know I will have to go through with the birth. Do you have any words of wisdom for me? Was it as bad as you thought?

i told my mom when i was 16 a few weeks after i did and she took me to get birth control...i thought she was gonna pass out when i told her but she was ok w/ it

Hello parents. I have been a nanny for 3.5 years for the same family. I disagree with ALOT of things but I follow the rules of the house regardless of how much I disagree with them...
9 year old son stayed home "sick" from school yesterday. His friend was supposed to come home on the bus with him but since he was sick it got messed up. 9 year old asked me if we could go pick his friend up from school to which I replied "I don't think it's right for him to come over if you're sick. You have a cough and he has asthma so it probably isn't a good idea."
Later my boss called and told me to let the friend come over still!!! 9 year old was now suddenly feeling better!!After that the friends mom called and said she didn't want him over if 9 year old was sick (I agree with her whole-heartedly) so she left work early to come and pick him up.
9 year old is home again today sick and playing the video game he rented ALL DAY!

Is it crazy to let him have a friend over when he stays home sick?

I keep our house very nice, but the teen rooms are out of control. I keep their doors closed. They refuse to clean their rooms and I don't feel I should have to do it. What should I do? I want them to learn to be neat! Am I doing them harm by allowing them to keep their rooms in such disarray? (Example: Washed and dirty clothes stuffed in closets and under the bed. Clothes on floor. im also dialated at 1, im 33 weeks the baby is dropping, the doctor only said not to once, then she said if i do have sex it will make me have cramps, is she telling me not to have sex or what? is it safe, my boyfriend is too scared to have sex now that we found out the babys head is lowering

My daughter is 3 years old and isnt able to play the Xbox 360 me and my boyfriend have at the house. My boyfriends son is six and can play the xbox and my daughter gets very frusterated when she cannont play the video games. I want to get her something age friendly for chistmas. I have been thinking the Vsmile but I have heard some bad reviews where it breaks easily. I'm suppose to be 4 weeks pregnant. I am seeing a doctor. I don't trust her because she doesn't returns her call and she tells me to do really idiotic things like "quite my job", "stop taking my vitamins", "go to the gym". But she also told me that I am at risk since I have had 4 miscarriage in the past months. She doesn't want to give me a Preventive arrest from work, telling me that being up on my feet for 13 hours is perfectly ok. Even if I only have two 10 minute breaks that permits me to eat, pee and rest. A couple of weeks ago she took blood. She was suppose to call me and tell me te results. She never did. I had to go back there and tell them that I will not leave until I have my results. Then a civilian doctor told me that I "was" pregnant and that I am loosing it, took more blood. So I went home. The week after I saw my doctor, told me that I was pregnant and everything is fine, took more blood and send me home. She was suppose to call me last week with the results; she didn't
