Identical twins is when one egg is released and it divides into two eggs. Fraternal twins is when one egg is released for each ovary, resulting in two completely different embryos. hope this helps

Fraternal twins means that more than one egg was released and then fertilized seperately. These twins can be both boys or both girls or a boy and a girl. They may look similar (almost identical) or nothing alike. One could favor the mom and one could favor the dad. I knew 2 sets of faternal twins in school and one set were both girls and looked identical to us and the other set were boys and one had black hair and was short and chubby and the other had red hair and was tall and very thin. For example Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are fraternal mirror image twins. Meaning they look at each other like they are looking in a mirror. One is left handed and one is right handed. But they look almost identical.

Identical twins are just what their name suggests. They look alike down to their DNA. They happen when one egg fertilized egg splits early on (you can also have identical triplets and quads-not as common though). These twins can only be two boys or two girls obviously they couldn't be a girl and a boy to be identical.

Fraternal twins come from the fertilization of two different eggs. Identical twins (and triplets!) come from the splitting of only one fertilized egg. These twins are called identical because, of course, they will have the same identical DNA (genes). Fraternal twins will look similar, but like brothers. Identical twins usually look very much alike.

Identical are just that they look the same and have the same DNA. I have a set. Fraternal are from 2 different eggs so they can be different sex's. Can look totally different. And are in different sacks.
