I told my mom that i did not want to be getting pregnant and that i made myself an appointment to go and get on birth control when i was 16.

She was glad i was being careful. She was not mad at me or anything.

I have been with the same person since then. We have been together for nearly 13 years (Married for 2) and have a 6 year old son together.
I knew when i had sex with him (My now husband) that he was the one for me.
If i hadn't of thought or felt that i would have not had sex with him.
We had been together for 9 months until i decided that i was ready to have sex.

I didn't tell my daddy but i am sure he knew, they were glad that i did not want to be having a kid in my teens.
I had enough sense to go and get on birth control unlike alot of people.
I made my own appointment and went on my own unlike alot of people that acts like they cannot do that. (We are now 27 & 28 years old)

I did not tell my mom. But I think she found out eventually. Actually I think she thought I was having sex before I even started. I was a tom boy and hung out with a lot of guys, so I guess that is grounds for assuming things.

Every parent is different. Some could careless that their kids are having sex, some know it is going to happen sooner or later, and some want to put the fear of God into their children if they even try to have sex.

Just make sure you are using condoms. Birth control does not always prevent pregnancy and it does NOT protect against STDs, which is on the rise for teens. Just be smart about it.

I didn't tell my parents. They thought I was a virgin on my wedding day. My mom always said I could tell her and she'd get me on birth control, but I knew she would freak.

As of yet none of my kids have told me they are sexually active and I honestly do not think they are.

However if/when they do decide to become active, I hope they feel comfortable talking to me about it. I would advise them to use birth control and would take them to get it if they wanted.

Parents freak out because they aren't ready to fact the fact that their baby is growing up. Plus parents know that sex can lead to many bad things if the teen isn't ready.

The worst of course would be an incurrable STD, and of course there is pregnancy. No parent want to see their child become a parent before they have had a chance to truly grow up and go to college or whatever.

And then there is the fact that there can be alot of emotional pain, especially for a girl if/when the relationship ends. Also there is the fact of a bad reputation to consider, again especially with girls. A girl who is considered "easy" will be treated badly and will only be asked out by boys who want to use her for sex. (this last part happened to my neice)

Great for your mom!!! She is a very smart mom I am sure she would have wished that you waited a lil bit more but it happens and now remember being on birth control doesn't mean that it is Ok to go and sleep with everybody be cautious and remember that just because you feel that you are in love the Guy feels the same way. Good luck!!!

1. I haven't had sex yet and I probably wouldn't tell them unless I'm pregnant or have an STD. I don't want to know about their sex lives, they don't want to know about mine.

2. If they found out it would probably be because I got pregnant or had an STD or a late period or something.

3. N.A

I didn't tell my parents, I was 17 and got myself bc and used condoms and I didn't think it was any of my mother's business seeing as at the time I had a full time job and paid for everything myself anyway.
