My 1 year old son ate a tiny piece of paper and as he was trying to swallow, he choked. After coughing, he manage to swallow it. But other than saliva coming out from his mouth while coughing real hard, there was some tiny bit of blood as well. Should I take him to see a doctor ? He's ok now and was able to eat and drink.

I notice people are suggesting parents should teach their children from a very young age about sex. I have a 1yr old girl & she's so innocent, i'm not naive to think she'll stay that way forever but talking to her about sex at 4yrs old seems a bit extreme.Children naturally start to explore their bodies at a young age, this doesn't relate to sex in my opinion, its a solo act & is natural.I don't think i need to sit her down & tell her about masturbation, it would have made me ill if my parents had done that.
I think if you tell a child about sex they'll become interested in it, you should wait for signs or when they start asking you questions & answer it in an appropriate way for their age. Why not encourage them to be into sports, dance & music etc.
I think the birds & bees chat should be when they are closer to being a teenager & puberty kicks in, anyway until they are teenagers your not going to let them be alone with the opposite sex so whats the hurry?

I am 24 years old and have been pregnant at least 2 times (by accident). The first I fell pregnant I was 19 and I remember miscarrying the baby at 3 months and I believed this was due to my husband punching me in the stomach (but not like a hard blow but still a punch) when he found out. But when I went to the hospital I remember them mentioning that the baby had been growing in one of my tubes due to endermitriosis. I fell pregnant again for someone else when I was still with my husband and I think I got to nearly 3 months again when I lost the baby again through miscarriage. I definately felt pregnant as my tummy was majourly heavy but I didn't take a test to confirm it and I didn't go to the hospital when I'd thought I'd had a miscarriage as I thought I just knew due to the amount of blood and pain etc. I thought I miscarried because of stress because my husband physically abused me again when he found out. However, I am now happy with someone and I want to hav a baby. Can I?

She has always enjoyed stories and books and earlier today she said "Mummy how can I read these words"?
Does anyone know if there are any age-appropriate reading resources available? She already knows lots of letters and the sounds they make. I'd be really grateful for any ideas! Thank you.

How long after my milk has come in should I start pumping? I will be breastfeeding after delivering and was just wondering if I would pump right away or wait until the colostrum is out?

Im 36 wks 4 days and my baby doesnt really kick anymore she just squirms and wiggles (i guess you could say lol) because their is no more room obviously.. The only thing is sometimes all she has to do is barely move her body from one side to the other (or whatever she is doing) and it hurts really bad!! Is that normal? Sometimes it hurts in my butt and lower back, sometimes it just makes me uncomfortable.. Anybody know why?

My husband was away on business last night and caught a stomach bug. He threw up last night and is feeling so bad he is coming home today. He said a guy he had a meeting with was telling him how his whole family was sick over the weekend, but he was feeling fine now. Apparently he was still contagious. Here is my problem. We have an 8 month old. What do I do to keep him from getting sick? Any tips?

I have a few dilemas I need to deal with and nothing seems to be helping. My mother in law, who i love dearly, is my daycare. My baby just turned 1 yesterday. Ive been feeding him pretty much whatever we have and is able to chew and on the nights we have say steak, he gets one of the Gerber Graduates meals. I picked him up the other day to take him to the Dr and when i brought him back I said, I think he is ready for lunch. She pulled out a Stage 2 jar of food and that was what she was going to feed him. Im really concerened especially since he is going to be going off of formula. I want him to be healthy. I want him to have fruit and vegetables with each meal. Not just a jar of Green Beans. She says she is scared of him choking but I have fed him plenty while she is around so she sees he is fully capable of eating real food. (He has 8 Teeth BTW...) I talked to my husband about it and of course, its his mom, So...You know how that went. I need to know if i am being silly.

I'm a bit worried of going overdue and ending up in labour on Christmas Day. My main reason would be the midwives and Drs working on Christmas will be annoyed at having to work Christmas Day and the care might not be as thorough.

Would like people to share their experiences.
