My 1 year old son ate a tiny piece of paper and as he was trying to swallow, he choked. After coughing, he manage to swallow it. But other than saliva coming out from his mouth while coughing real hard, there was some tiny bit of blood as well. Should I take him to see a doctor ? He's ok now and was able to eat and drink.

I guess he is fine though! maybe the blood wasn't came from his throat but he must have cut his lips or other part inside his mouth as you know papers sometime quite sharp it can slice your finger even you just touch it however you should keep eyes on him and see in one or two days if he still act normal without showing any pain. if he does show something that you think it's not right call your doctor and ask or tell him what happened by phone first what you should do! Hope this helps.

In coughing so hard, the baby probably broke a tiny blood vessel in his throat. It happens to adults sometimes too, but do keep an eye on him.

I would not listen to anyone about this I would atleast call the Dr and speak with the nurse. This could be nothing but this is your child do you really want to take the chance of something really being wrong?

I wouldn't panic too much if he;s doing ok now, but to be on the safe side I would just call the Dr.s office at least & talk to a nurse.

he might have gotten a paper cut while trying to remove the blockage. as long as he isn't complaining then I would not worry about it.
