I'm a bit worried of going overdue and ending up in labour on Christmas Day. My main reason would be the midwives and Drs working on Christmas will be annoyed at having to work Christmas Day and the care might not be as thorough.

Would like people to share their experiences.

I was due with my first child on December 24. I did not give birth until January 5. They tried to induce on 12/28, but it didn't take. It would suck to be in labour on Christmas Day; but really, labour sucks no matter what day it's on! Don't worry about docs and midwives; it won't be your fault if you go into labour! Best of luck and much love.

My son was born on the 14th. There was no shortage of people in the hospital. In fact it was a teaching hospital. So I tons of different people poking and prodding me. Anyhow when you decide to be a doctor you do your damn best no matter the day. Sure it may suck to have to work Christmas but at the moment you or another woman needs them its game on. Don't worry. Everything will end up great.

My brother was born on the 24th and I was born on the 26th of December and our mother said it was the two best Christmas gifts she ever got, so I think it would be wonderful for you! Plus doctors are on call anyways! P.S. However if you do have a Christmas baby always give at least two gifts, one for Christmas and one for it's birthday, because it sucked as a kid getting a gift that says happy birthday and Merry Christmas!

Hi I'm pregnant with number 3 and my due date is 24th Dec! I'm not worried about the care i will be given if it falls on Christmas day as if it were me who had to work on xmas i would be quite happy with the amount of £$£$ i would be getting paid for it being a holiday!

Your baby should be here by Christmas though I'm sure!

Congrats on the pregnancy. x

I am due Jan 1st have the same concern as you do, whether it's on time or a week early on xmas day. I am in my final year in college and my exams finish 21st of Dec so i would rather it is xmas day than mid exam. I have just had to resign myself to the idea that there isn't an awful lot i can do about it, whatever happens, happens. Best of luck and i hope it's on time!

it is often maximum suitable to watch for a toddler to choose for its own birthday. If there are scientific matters that require induction for the protection of the toddler or the mum then it is very yet another tale. Inductions carry many damaging aspects consisting of a 50% boost in mom's probability of having a C-section. There are additionally damaging aspects for the toddler. bear in mind that your toddler would be with its kin despite the fact that if interior the scientific institution or at homestead. i know you're annoying and excited to confirm your toddler. It only won't be by using the 14th. start advantages to you. playstation : i'm uncertain what a "representative" is. I artwork interior the childbirth field yet have not heard that element era. Is that your provider (widespread practitioner or midwife)?

I was due on the 20th dec last yr and i planned a home birth....no problems at all and i had my daughter with 2 midwives present on boxing day last yr. Home birth was fab and i would recommend it. I have had a hospital birth too but home was the best.

My sister in law went into labor on Christmas day, but refused to go to the hospital until after dinner was served! Talk about stubborn! BTW, she was very well taken care of by the staff.

I am due December 13th and I have the same fear... my first was 11 days late, I am afraid the same thing will happen and I'll have my little baby boy on Xmas eve... that would really suck.
Hopefully my midwife will keep her word of not letting me go over again.. (my daughter was 9lbs 3oz)
Maybe you could talk to yours and see if he/she will consider induction if you get too close to Xmas, (if that is OK with you as well) so you wont have to stress about it.
Induction isn't fun.. but neither is labor really lol
Good luck and gratz on your little one!!!
