Okay so the details are i'm 20 years old, i weigh 100kg which is like 230 pounds i think (from Australia only know kg lol) and i am 5"5.

What i want to know is in other peoples opinions what do you think would be a suitable weight for me to have a healthy pregnancy?

I want to have a baby soon so i was thinking of getting down to like 85kg??? Which is...187 pounds...lol just had to go to the website to convert kg to pounds!

Thankyou

If you are overweight (severly) it can affect your ability to have a baby, but it will not affect having a healthy baby. If you find you can't conceive, then lose the weight and try again.

When you get pregnant, make sure you eat healthy foods and make good lifestyle decisions (NO smoking, NO drinking, NO drug use, etc). Take prenatal vitamins and do the best you can.

Good luck :)

No offense to you, but I hope you are seeing a doctor because you are considered obese by American standards.
If you aren't pregnant yet, and Obstetrician-Gynecologist will tell you to lose weight first. When you weigh that much at your height, you are at risk for developing diabetes, and so is the baby. Also, it complicates a vaginal delivery and can cause other complications.
Getting down lower-to 187 may help, but it's still not the best.
Usually a woman gains 25-50 lbs-some more with pregnancy. Then it's hard to lose afterward.
You need to go to a doctor and find out what they think is right for you before you become pregnant.

Weight is less important than APGAR test results. Basically a quick visual assessment of the babies color, responsiveness, etc. Healthy weight can be anywhere from 5 pounds to 14 pounds. As far as I am aware somewhere in the 7 pound range is average.

have your doc do a full physical. let him decide if you are healthy enough. the concern with mothers who have a high BMI is that they may also have high blood pressure or blood sugar.

i was overweight when i got pregnant with my second (180 pounds and i'm 5'3") i ended up weighing in at 185 when i gave birth....to a 10 pounder! i took such good care of my self while i was expecting that i actually lost body fat. all i did was eat well (but healthy) and do moderate exercises (lots and lots of walking).

good luck!
