like I said, she is 14, 9th grade in Florida, and was kicked out for skipping. I recently signed documents at the school saying if she skipped again, she would be kicked out for the year. She was failing with a 20% average at the time. She ran away for 2 days, and was brought home by the cops. They say she needs bootcamp. Her father lives in another state. Can she attend school elsewhere? Does she need to be home schooled? Could I go to jail if she doesent attend some sort of school? I cant seem to control her. she does what she wants, when she wants. She drinks, has bad friends, smokes pot on occasion. She seems to need mens attention constantly. This has gone on for 2 years now. HELP

I realize this is a very sensitive topic and welcome everybody's help. I am researching adoption practices in different countries. I found that in my home country most infant adoptions are closed. Moreover, many people think that it is better for a child not to ever know out that he\she has been adopted, and many adoptive parents go to great lengths to conceal the fact of adoption.

My question is to those adoptees who had negative or not 100% positive adoption experiences because of emotional and other issues related to the awareness of having been abandoned .

Do you think it is emotionally better for an adoptee not to ever find out that he\she was adopted?

Obviously, it is in many cases unrealistic (i.e., in trans-racial or trans-ethnic adoption, plus the truth has a tendency to come out anyway).

Yet, assuming that believable and reliable concealment of the fact of adoption is possible, would you recommend it to adoptive parents? Please explain your answer. Thank you

I don't want to be a total bi**h, but honestly! How the heck are we supposed to know if you're pregnant! Take a damn over the counter test or go to the doctor!!! HELLO!!!!!!
Sorry....just a little annoyed and possibly in a bad mood:)

I am an adoptee with a sealed adoption but it seems that open adoptions are becoming much more common. Do the children involve get confused with a birth mom and an adoptive mom involved? Do they call them both "Mom"? Does it ever undermine the adoptive parents' authority and discipline? How do you work around this? Do you get everyone together regularly or just exchange the occasional letter and photo?

When I was growing up, sealed adoptions were the only way I knew so I'm just curious about how other families have made open situations work. Thanks!

Eg tight foreskin, and peer pressure from other things?

Is it right and should they contact a doctor or talk to their parents about it?

I babysit 2 children. They are 2 and 6. The 6 year old's class at school is having star of the week and this week they picked him. So,that meant that each day he had to bring something in. Tomorrow, he was supposed to take in his 2 year old brother. I told his parents last Friday that I would take him there, but that was before he got sick. Now he has a really bad cold and is being really grumpy and fussy. He has been that way since Monday. I told his mom tonight that I was not going to take him because I don't want him getting there and throwing fits and passing his cold to every child in the class. Did I handle the situation right? His mom acted upset when I told her I was not going to do it. What would you have done? If you are a parent would you be upset or could you understand where I am coming from?

I am wondering how different people would react to this: Your 18 month old child has been in the private care of a nanny since he/she was 6 weeks old. The child is happy and thriving, you really like the nanny a lot. The whole relationship has worked well.

Then, the nanny tells you that before she was moved to the area, she was very ill with an eating disorder. You did not know this from her behavior in the past 18 months, although she has recently begun losing weight. In those 18 months, you had gotten to know her well...or so you thought. Does this make a difference in your evaluation of her as a person? Do you still trust her (even though she 'hid' this)? Does it affect how you think she will take care of your child? Her references still checked out and she was not untruthful about anything else, just that when she was moving around, she was 'unsettled' (versus revealing her therapy treatments). And insight on reactions would be helpful. Thanks.

I'm 28 almost 29 weeks, and I know I have a long way to go, I'm just so tired of being pregnant.

Any ideas on how to make these last couple weeks go by a lot faster?

My doctor already said he thinks she's gonna come early.

I just need some ideas.

I've already done all my shopping, and I have to wait for my dad to paint the baby's room to start putting the room together.

any ideas?

it seems so dumb to me, as they are a *LOT* less expensive, AND if there's no complications, a lot more safer for both mom & baby.
so why would insurance companies not cover them??
seems like it would be in the best interest of all involved.

One of my second-graders is lactose intolerant. He accidently had a bowel movement on himself. The substitute teacher completely freaked out. She started yelling and she made her get paper towels and clean up the mess (even though his pants were dripping with diarrhea).

The other kids were all grossed out and saying ew. Some ran from the room covering their nose and had to be forced back into their seats.

The sub then sent him to the nurse's office.

Should I talk to the class about what happened so they're not shady when he returns to school?

My one year old is very constipated and I was told that I shouldn't be giving her a lot of potatoes or crackers because it could make it worse. Is there anything else I should be avoiding? All I have been able to find out is how to treat it but this has been going on for so long that I need to make sure I'm not giving her something on a daily basis that could be the problem. It's not her milk because she gets under 3 cups a day.

I'm just curious:

What mental image comes to your mind when you hear this name?
Maybe character traits or a physical image?
