we are having our first baby at the end of dec beginning of jan. so we won't be going out much after he is born because of the cold and all of the germs. what should i stock up on for us? we have all the baby stuff but compared to a little baby it seems like us adults will need a lot more stuff? what should i get for groceries, bath stuff, things i might need after delievery that i can't think of?if we don't have everything it's alright because daddy can get it when he goes to work but i would like to know the basics. what types of food should we get? did you feel like cooking after you had your baby or should i get easy stuff? what about stuff for showering and bathing? i keep thinking i'm forgetting stuff. i want to buy all the non-food items soon so we can have them in advance. thanks for the help.

10mo old slaps the food from my hands or even slaps people on the face. I dont want to yell or slap him back with my finger he will think its a game and will continue doing it. What do you do ??

We have yet to complete the I.E.P. for the child involved. I have asked and asked the teacher in charge and still NOTHING!!! "Just be patient, it will happen soon" is the response I am getting. My son is going to fall further and further behind if something isn't done. Who do I talk to?? Does anyone have a copy of the "parent rights" still??

My water broke when I was in the shower a few minutes ago. I was wondering how long until contractions start. Because isnt this the first step to labor? 40 wks w/ twins.

I found out I was pregnant on 2007/09/10. The doctor estimated me to be at 5 1/2 weeks and I was scheduled for an ultrasound on 2007/09/20. My hcg levels went from 200 (2007/09/10) to 600 (2007/09/12) to 1500 (2007/09/14). At my ultrasound they could only see the sac and something they called the "yolk". The ultrasound doctor came in and said it was either earlier in the pregnancy than the had originally thought or I was going to miscarry. So I called my OB/GYN and he sent me for some bloodwork that day (2007/09/20). The results for my hcg were 9500. I am still freaking out because for the last 2 weeks I have had cramping (mild) and some blood. I only noticed the blood twice when wiping, however when I check myself I notice a brown or pink tinged blood inside me. You may wonder why I am freaking out so bad, but I have already had a miscarriage and it effected my mental health greatly. Does anyone have some answers or stories that could ease my worries??? I would really appreciate it! My questions are: 1. What are normal hcg levels? 2. Is it normal to continuously have blood? 3. Is it normal to have bouts of mild cramping and then nothing?

i have an appointment for 3pm tomorrow to do the glucose testing. could they give me an ultrasound then too??

... whereas in this country (U.K.) it is mainly *Fathers* who stand on the sidelines shouting and screaming at their boys?
My boys played football with the cubs,rugby for the school and so on and they wouldn't have wanted me anywhere near - and I didn't *want* to go near firstly because I was glad to have them out of the house for a while while I got on with things and secondly if I had been there and anyone had touched my boys I should have been on the pitch protecting them.
My third who was a bit more "left field" was a swimmer and I did used to go to watch him in competitions but he needed that attention more.
Even my Father never used to go to watch my brothers playing sports unless it was a big game and my Mother would never have done - so what is it with these "soccermoms"? - is it just because they need to provide transportation and don't want to drive home and then pick them up later?
This is a serious enquiry about cultural differences and I find it interesting.

We just found out that the heat exchanger on our hot air oil furnace is cracked, and that the only solution is to replace it. But of course my husband is too stubborn to replace it, and wants to run it til it dies completely. How can I make him understand that this is dangerous for us and our unborn baby? A very generous family member has even proposed giving us the money for the furnace, but this still will not change his mind. Why are men so darn stubborn!?

Ok I know that those that have babies believe that stressing about having is not the best case, although I am on my 7 month of trying... I have tracked my ovulation period.. researched what to do different.. Is there any other advice to give besides relax when the time is right it will happen.. or does anyone feel the same?

tested. Well she said things look fine, but since I am overweight my estrogen levels are to high and I am not ovulating (having a period) She gave me a pill to get my period and told me to come back in 3 months if I dont get my period again after taking that pill. Then she said you have 3 options at that point. 1. Lose ALOT of weight. 2. Go on birth control pill and get regulated for 1 yr or 3. That I could come back in and she could get me on some kind of fertility drug (which she said she didnt recommend because I am overweight and it makes issues for baby/pregnancy) Well its been about 3 months and no period. I really dont want to go back in cause I know what she is going to tell me, and as of now my husband thinks I should work on losing weight. But I want a baby so bad and I really want to go on fertility drugs, and continue to lose weight at the same time, but family are telling me to wait and just focus on getting healthy and losing weight. What should I do???

Hello everyone, Im kind of confused. Today I am 17 weeks pregnant, my only ultrasound was at 8 weeks, it showed one baby, since then all I have had is the sound of my babys heartbeat, the one my doc uses is a doppler but it doesnt show how fast the heart rate is, looks older. I bought my own 2007 model, expensive, I used it today and on my left side it showed 140bpm, normal, then i picked up something on my right side like 120something then i moved the probe to the middle of my stomach and got 229 and higher could i have picked up two heart rates, twins? my doc only listens to my baby for about 20 seconds, or is something wrong with my child?

I have never seen a celebrity who has had kids , even up to 5 kids with stretch marks. How is that possible ? i know that in magazines they use air- brushing and such , but what about on tv ( not movies ) surely make-up couldn't hide big pregnancy scars ( stretch marks). i'm very curious as to why they don't have stretch marks from pregnancy ...
