My 3 year old has it but it's not hot water just barely warm

Chocolate is on the high allergen list and is not recommended until age 2. Usually hot chocolate mix has lots of sugar in it. So I would not give a baby hot chocolate.

I waited until my son was about 15 months, but then made it no warmer than I fixed his formula. He is 3 now and I fix it for a special treat to take to his soccer games to keep warm.I make my own sugar-free mix so I don;t have to worry about the sugar content, and you do not have to make it full-strength so not as much caffeine.
OMG Some people are such nit-pickers. Go ahead, give me a thumbs down. GEEZ. At least my son get small treats now instead of him having to sneak them because they are kept away from him. Come on 8-9 years old for hot cocoa? Get real!

My 3 years old has hot chocolate she has it just warm and she loves it..But i don't give it too her all the time...

I wouldn't give a kid hot anything until they're old enough to understand what you're talking about when you tell them to sip, not gulp, hot things. I don't think it's unreasonable as a treat for the holidays or something for, say, a 3-year-old.

I guess if they are drinking milk, then letting them taste hot chocolate would be fine. As long as it's not actually hot, that is! lol If they are eating solids, and drinking from a sippy cup, it should be fine.

It's got caffeine and a lot of sugar in it, so just use your judgment. My son had some at about 15 months, but not very much (a small mug) and not very hot.
