Where exactly are you in the IEP process?
Is the testing complete?
Has it been determined that your child eligible for services?
It would be helpful to know more.
Your state website, or the school district's website should have a copy of the Parent's Rights.

Your Local Board Of Education is a good place to start. Button hole one of the members and insist on results. Call all the members and request that they use their influence to get things done. The board, the superintendent and the principal are to be advocates for the children as are the teachers. Be persistent don't give up. Continue to push for that I.E.P. There is no excuse for feet dragging on this issue. A child's well being is at stake. If all else fails try hiring an attorney who specializes in this area of law. Or see what the local chapter of the ACLU can do. DON'T GIVE UP!.

My suggestion is to take your child to a psychologist or doctor and have them write a referral for the child's IEP. After working for a psychologist, I learned that having something from a professional to back up the need for IEP is the best way to get the fire started.

Keep pushing, my daughter has waited so far 3 yrs to get tested.
I keep pushing and nothing so far, I get lame excuses like the teacher quit that does the test and she is swamped with back work but for 3 yrs??? Give me a break, I am now involving her doctor to get the ball rolling. Good luck and don't take no for an

Fist.. if the child has already been tested and qualified for services then...ditto to the first poster. the school has 30 days to comply with your request, otherwise they will be out of compliance. There are big fines for that! Let them know you know what you are talking about. Threaten with a lawyer, there are lawyers waiting out there to catch a school out of compliance! Dont give up.

request it in writing. They will have 30 days to set up a meeting or you can sue for non compliance. Good luck, if they are givign you this much trouble just to have a meeting then they may make things rough to get services. Look into the cost of a lawyer or advocate for your child.
