My water broke when I was in the shower a few minutes ago. I was wondering how long until contractions start. Because isnt this the first step to labor? 40 wks w/ twins.

With the twins, you need to be monitored ASAP. It's not an emergency yet, but you need to keep your head on, wrap it around the fact that it's time and go.
Get an epidural (if that's what your choosing) and enjoy the rest of the labor!
Good Luck sweetie - you've worked hard for 9 months for this and the finish line is close! I'll say a lil prayer for you and your family.

congrats. it could still be a few hours before labor starts though you may have a few smaller contractions soon. don't forget, call the doc and let them know whats going on. they'll want you in the hospital within 24 hours since your bag broke. a precautionary thing. you don't want to risk any infection. relax while you have the chance and congrats again.

If you are sure your water broke, you need to go to the hospital, or call your OB. My contractions started within a few hours of my water breaking, but everyone is different.

YOu're in labour, call your doctor and see if they want you to go to the hospital immediately.
My water broke and the contractions didn't start for about 45 minutes. Every woman is different though.

They'll start soon.
You don't have to break any speed limits, but call your doctor and head to the hospital. If your labor doesn't progress, they'll induce after a few hours.
Lucky you for getting a shower!

Okay so now is time to go to the Dr office because once your water breaks it's show time. And you want to make sure that everything is okay in there. So get off the computer and get ready to have them babies. Good Luck

you don't wait for contractions to start, after your water breaks you get your buns to the hospital.
if they don't start on their own the doctor willl have to start them, but the baby should be delivered within 24 hours of your water breaking, to prevent infections.
congrats youve made it!
