Pregnancy & Parenting - 12 June 2007

A friend of mine told me that when her daughter was little she couldn't get her to wear dresses. She said that her little girl just refused to wear them. Why are parents arguing or debating with their children?? When you tell a child to do something they need to do it or else their will be consequences to pay. Are these days over?? Are all parents allowing their children run the household and telling them what they will not do?
When I was a child I did as told or else I got my behind beat. This didn't happen too often because after one time, I learned my lesson. So are you one of those parents who's children run you or do you run your house hold???

In fact, studies have shown that babies who use a walker may actually learn to walk about a month later than those who don't. Walkers allow babies to move around before they are physically ready for it, which can cause unusual movement patterns and delayed muscle control.

Ok I was told that I have gestational diabetes and that I need to test my sugar lvl's 4 times a day. The only problem I have with this is that since I've been testing my sugar lvl it's always in the healthy non-diabetic area. Usually around the 90's. Did my Dr. make a mistake? I'm not going to keep testing my blood for the heck of it...this is annoying and pointless if you ask me.

This is my 3rd pregnancy - I have been plagued by kidney stones and now menstrual cramps with low back pain. I hate to think I'm going to feel like this for the next month but know I probably will. I have seen bits of my plug in the past 2 days so I'm holding out hope that maybe this one will come early. I don't remember the menstrual cramping with the other two - just braxton hicks. Does dilation cause the menstrual cramping?

I just found out that I am pregnant only 3 weeks though. This is my second pregnancy the first one ended after 5.5 weeks. Now I feel like I can't be too excited because so many things can go wrong. I made an appointment for the 26th of June but that is still 2 weeks that I have to wait. I also decided not to tell anyone but my husband which makes it less exciting cause you can't tell everyone. I fell indifferent maybe because I don't want to get my hopes up. Is anyone in a similar situation?

This child is so mean her mother abuses her severely. She beats her al the time, This childs mother had an affair with my husband 4 1/2 years ago. This child could be from this affair But the mother denise it. Anyway she is so mean she spends the bigger share of the 4 hours I have her in time out from being mean to the other kids I watch, If she is not pushing them she is hitting or stealing their food or toys or books or fighting I am at my wits end as to what to do with her I have told the mother to find a new babysitter and all she does is threaten the child. My son is driving me insane, I have attempted hundreds of times to let him drink out of a cup and he always always ends up spilling it on himself or all over the table or couch. I don't know what to do because he begs me to give him his milk in a cup and then next thing I know it's all over his stomach and on the table/couch EVRYWHERE! I'm not just tlaking about a few drops, it's like most of the cup and even though I only put 1-2 oz of it in there it still makes a mess. WTF! When the is he gonna learn to not spill, he's 3.5 already, is this normal???

Hi all....Ok there is a 13 years old boy who lives just besides my home. He loves my 2.9 years old son a lottttt.....He takes my son into his arms and literally squeezes my son....my son for sure feels the discomfort and pain but very young to express it out. once I saw my son pressing his rib cage with his hands....I asked him what happened...he said "nothing"....

I saw this once or twice and told the juvenile not to do that. He tries to comprehend his act and says that he is not hurting my kid...and says he is just pretending that way and not at all holding him tight....But I can see the force that he is using....How can I tell him not to do that...politely????? I am very much worried about this.....This boy though he is 13...is a bit immature types (NOT mentally retarded)...so I have to tell him thinking he is a 8 years old kid....please advice.....

I had a miscarriage April 21st, I had sex May 18th, I took a hpt test June 11th and got a +, I havent gotten a period since the miscarriage, Am I pregnant? I am going to the dr. next week. but I just wanna get some opinions.

I realize that this isn't a baby question, but you guys are genious when it comes to this stuff, so I thought I'd ask here. We are going to give my brother in law a compass as a wedding gift, and we will have te back inscribed to him and his wife. We want it to say something like "May you always be each others' compasses in life", but we need a clever (but short) way to say it. Any ideas on a good inscription? You don't have to use my idea - you can make up your own if you have a good one!
