We helped our girls with their college education and we had a beautiful wedding for them. We still help when they need it. Isn't that what a parent does?

Up to when I was in college, some of my tuition (about $3000 a yr) and a few hundred dollars a month.

After that I would get money every once in while, like $500 every few months, but once I got married ( or a little before) no not at all. Even if I wasn't married I felt bad about accepting money so I stopped, I have learned a lot in the last few years and I think once a person graduates college or gets out of high school and chooses not to go to college and is working, they should never take money from parents.

You will be much more proud of yourself and feel a sense of accomplishment if you can independently pay your own way through life. There is always a way, you don't need to burden family with handing you money when you need it.

PS. this does not include emergencies like your child needs a life or death medical treatment and your parents have the money to pay for it.

Yes, mine have, a few times... Sometimes it's hard to be a single mother of two. I have been blessed with great parents, and when, and if I need their help they have always come through. That's what good parents do. If they can help they help, and if not they try to help you figure out a way.

Yes, parents and inlaws. I am so thankful for both! We have never been in a position where they needed our financial help, but we certainly try to do any and everything we can for them (fix plumbing, hair cuts, etc).

Most parents have helped their child out financially. Mine sure have, along with my in-laws :) But we always pay them back and it doesnt happen very often. Just when we find ourselves in a bind :)

Nope - I'm proud to say I've never needed outside financial help. That's the one thing I am good at! lol

Most definatly. Usually they don't want money paid back as money though either - instead it's odd jobs to help them out that would cost them money to have someone else do, or babysitting my nephew that they have custody of - which again they'd have to pay someone to do it anyways.

It all works out, thankfully my parents have helped us when we've needed it and couldn't get by otherwise.

Yes, and if you are not careful it can become a huge disaster. Consider your choices wisely! And see if you can do it on your own first. Also, see if you reaallly need what it is you are trying to get, or if you can wait until you save up on your own. I am telling you from personal experience. Think before you act. Vanity is not everything.
