Rarely women have a craving for a non food substance. These can range from harmless to potentially dangerous and include the following:
*clay
*laundry starch
*dirt
*baking powder or soda
*ice chips or freezer frost

The name for this uncommon craving is "pica". Why some women experience it is unknown, although it's more common in certain cultures. It is sometimes caused by iron deficiency. If you experience a craving for something that is not food, ask your doctor about it. It might seem strange to you, but could be a sign for something else to your doctor.

Yes it's normal don't worry. The weirdest things happen to your senses when you're pregnant. I used to be able to smell thing miles away and almost everything turned me off.
My mother wanted to eat the soap when she was pregnant. Once she actually licked it, and then almost threw up. There might be some ingredient in the bleach that makes you wanna eat it... Like my sister wanted to eat the wall, and she actually needed calcium. I know it sounds really strange, but it's all normal. It might be just all the hormones in your body confusing it... who knows!

I forgot to mention, please don't smell the bleach no matter how much you crave it. It's poisonous, and harmful to the baby. You probably know this already though.

Don't worry about it your smelling it not drinking it .

Another craving of mine was Dime Bars ,I never ate them just liked the crunching sound of them when I snapped them in to pieces . Very bizarre however I have a wonderful healthy 11 year old now . best of luck hun with you soon to be little bundle .

Your senses change during pregnancy - thats why some smells make you feel sick and others make you just want to eat them lol. Bleach is dangerous though so limit your exposure to it cos of the fumes. I used to love the smell of new carpets when I was pregnant and used to wander around the retail stores just to get the smell lol.

It's not unheard of to crave really weird things in pregnancy. People have been known to want to eat dirt or chalk or rock. You shouldn't be smelling bleach however as it could harm your unborn child. Congratulations on your impending arrival!!
