hello all. i am 17 years old and started having periods when i was 14, so im hoping that my cycle is still irregular. i usually have my period starting on the 3rd of each month and they last for about 3 to 5 days.
on january 25th, my boyfriend of two years and i had sex, but we only went for about 20 seconds because i recieved a phone call from my mom. how ironic?
anyway, the week before that, i was diagnosed with both flu and mono.
it is now jan 6 and i have not started my period. becuase i wouldve hopefully ovulated on anywhere from the 14th through 19th, leaving room for error, i honestly do not see how i could be pregnant...
could it just be that from both the flu and mono, mixed in with the medications i was on, my period is simply just late?
over the past 3 days i have had all of my usual PMS symptoms: irritable, tired, headachey, cramps, tender breasts.
my mom is assuming im still slightly irregular, along with being sick and very stressed over schoolwork. help me out!

Ok, my husband and I had sex thursday night, I started ovulating saturday morning. Sunday morning I noticed a small hint of blood in my panties. No further bleeeding from that point on. I didn't feel any pain at all. Could this have been implantaion bleeding?

I have a potential child that the mother is claiming it is not mine. I feel it is since we went thru the ovulation testing and the doctor confirmed she was pregnant last May 2006. My attorney is having a court ordered DNA test of she and the baby, as well as myself. Can she committ fraud or falsify documents or are they carefully screened. I can't seem to get a consistent answer.

What do you think of the name Melrose?
My sister is expecting a baby girl in April and has asked me to help pick out a name.
I like Melrose but I dunno if it's really a name.

Yesterday I sent a note with my daughter to school to give to her teacher. The note simply said that I was just letting her know that I have been working with my daughter at home on her spelling, and could she suggest any ways that may help her work on it at home. Then I thanked her for all she was doing in class with the children, I knew she had been working hard with them (1st graders). I get the feeling I may have ticked her off or made her feel slighted in some way, but it was not intended in any way. I was just worried because the last few of my daughter's spelling tests had poor grades and notes attached to them in all caps and underlined that said PRACTICE! The response I received to my letter was was as follows:
Mrs. Smith,
I KNOW you have been working with Alexis on spelling! Just hang in there! I am sending you some different ways to work on it at home. Maybe it will help.

I don't want to discuss whether it's "good" or "bad" for teenagers to become pregnant. I'm also not speaking of those women who actually try to become pregnant - I'm talking accidental pregnancies here. I'm amazed that in this age where contraception is actually handed out for free from certain clinics (In the U.S., at least), that I see so many teenagers who are pregnant. What's the deal? Why can't they simply take pills, use protection, etc.? Again, I really don't want to defame the character of teenage moms. My mother was a teenage mom, and she's one of the best people I know. I'm just genuinely curious. Are they simply careless?

growing the more i am noticing kids are being disrespectful and less willing to co-operate with others...to me it seems the punishments such as "spanking" and legit "groundings" are dissappearing. i do not have kid, but i am 20 and i notice that others kids around my age and younger are back talking parents, eye rolling, and other things of that nature...and yet parents do nothing to let them know they will not tolerate it. i have had my moments with being "bad", but i am also respectful to my parents and will not back talk them. i do not think "time outs" or "go to you rooms" work, because kids have all their stuff in their rooms. many parents don't want to see their kids cry, so they will let them get what they want, no questions asked. many kids do not take the time to understand things such as respect or hard work...does anyone else think that kids need to be put in their place?

Hey all,

I have a little baby boy that is almost 5 months old. Is it normal for him to be sleeping most of the day? It isn't like he has his days and nights mixed up, he sleeps through the night, from about 7pm until 8 in the morning. He will eat and want to go back to sleep for a few more hours, then up for a couple hours then back to sleep.

I know that newborns sleep alot, but he sleeps most of the day unless he is eating. When he is up, I keep him busy playing and such, but when he gets tired and wants to sleep, he will just get more and more cranky unless I lay him down.

I feel like I am ignoring him or something, having him in the bedroom sleeping all the time. Just wanted to know if this was normal or not.

Question I worry about development I know I need to talk to a Dr. but our appt is in 2 weeks need answer until then. How old is an infant suppose to be when they look at you and are focused? I have a 6 week old who doesnt really look at me seems dazed still, is this normal? Anyone have a similar situation?

OK, so about 15 minutes ago I was getting ready to play with my 2 good friends, when these 3 jerks I know pulled up on to my friends lawn where we met. One started throwing sticks at me for no reason and one chased me with their bike. As I was walking home I threw a stick at the group and one of them said that if I had hit them he would've hit me back. I went home because of a cut on my head I got from a stick. What should I do? By the way, I am 13 and 2 of these jerks are 12 and one is 13. I would like parent and kid opinions.

Here is my situation: I am 25 weeks pregnant and live aprox 4 hours away from my immediate family (parents, aunts/uncles, ect...) and aprox 3 and 1/2 hours from my husband's family. My sister in law and brother live 15 minutes away and around x-mas time she aked if she could throw me a baby shower. What made her offer ohhh so appealing is that we wouldn't have to travel a long distance to have a shower AND wouldn't have to worry about how to get our new baby gifts back home (4 hours away).
So my question is: Not many relatives from either side of the families are willing to travel in March to my shower and that is fine, but I have about 25 work friends that I want @ the shower. How many is too many work friends becasue I don't want it to seem we're being greedy by inviting more people for more gifts when that isn't the truth at all. I just know when we got married we had 3 bridal showers and we had to travel all over the state to attend them. I just didn't want to do that again.

My daughter is 14 years old ,and my wife thinks that i she shouldent be playing poker with me and the guys we play poker once a week ,you see my wife doesn't like our poker games because we swear ,talk about women ,drink ,play for money and fight during the poker game ,i remember one time i stabbed my friends hand on the table with my switchblade because he was cheating ,my wife thinks that this behavior is inapropriote for my daughter ,but i think its ok since they see all kind of things like that in school and that it is normal for a teenager to be exposed to it ,but my wife woulden't listen :( ,she also says that my friends are a bad influence on her because one of them is a convicted rapist ,but he didn't do anything to her ,but one time he did say she was sexy then i broke his nose ,but since i broke his nose i think he understand that if he come near my daughter he will be killed ,and another one of my friends is a drunk and my wife thinks this is also a bad influence

For those of you mom's that have head strong three year old son's...how do you get them to mind you when they are at their peak of throwing a tantrum??? I have tried time out, I have tried taking away toys, I have tried ignoring him, I have tried spanking the butt, I have tried just about everything...I know that my face and my tone show that I have had enough and he just keeps on pressing on!!!! Any different ideas??

I guess I'm starting my "nesting" stage of my pregnancy. I wanted to know if it was ok to wipe down a used crib, given to us from a friend of a family friend, with rubbing alcohol. My bf's mom suggested that as well as wiping down the mattress with rubbing alcohol, too. Just wanted to know if anyone's ever done that and if it's safe, and how do u know for sure? However, I am planning to buy a new mattress anyway, but is rubbing alcohol safe to use for cleaning my baby's crib?

I've never been on birth control before and I have just had my first child about a week and three days ago. My Dr. suggested that I get the depo shot because i don't think i can remember to take a pill every day at the same time for the rest of my life. But I have heard a lot of stories about depo.

1. can you still get pregnant while on depo? I've heard of people having unprotected sex because they didn't think they could get pregnant, but ended up getting pregnant anyways. My fiance and I don't use condoms because of several personal reasons and if I'm going to get pregnant again from depo...is there any kind of birth control that won't get me pregnant other than tying my tubes??
2. does it take effect immediately or does it take a couple days or weeks?
3. do you have periods? I've heard some people have spotting, some have a normal period, some have irregular, and some don't have anything at all...does it depend on the woman??

I might VERY well be pregnant (read my other questions for more info) and I'm freaking out.. when we had sex he didn't have a girlfriend.. but now he does. He doesn't know I might be pregnant because I don't want to tell him anything until I am 100% sure. I hung out with him a couple days ago though and he asked me if I was pregnant and said "You look fatter, your boobs are bigger, and you've been acting moody" I didn't say anything and just instead laughed it off. I'm going to wait about a week and take a pregnancy test. I took one about 3 weeks ago and it was negative but I think it was too early to tell. If I am, should I tell him over the phone or in person?!! I'm just afraid in person I would be at a loss for words. So how would I say it?? And guys, which one would you prefer?!

i am in the hospital as we speak due to the fact that my water has broke at 31.5 weeks and im 32 now. it t broke on sunday and i was in labor but it stopped...they are just going to let me go into labor due to the fact that i was givin steriods for babes. or unless i get an infection then they'll induce. my question is...for anyone who has been through this or knows someone...when did you go into labor, or what is the estimated time a woman should besides the 24 hour rule...mind you, my amniotic fluid level is only 2.
