Seems pretty normal to me. Babies at that young of an age can't focus on objects past like 10-12 inches away. I could be wrong on the actual distance, but I know it's not too far. If you're still worried in 2 weeks, bring it up w/ your dr. but my guess is that in that 2 weeks you'll see the baby develop more and see more.

It really depends on how close you are to him, If you are really close it is hard for them to focus, if you are too far away they can't really see you.
I have a 5 month old, and he started focusing better around 2 months. He would see me better if i held still in front of him. Once he got practice at that he could start to follow me (and objects) slightly, I think around 3 months or so. It wasn't that long ago, but still hard to remember for sure.
All babies are different however, I wouldn't worry to much, but still bring it up to your doctor to make sure. Has he/she seen you and smiled or laughed? Around 2 months is when my son really started laughing and smiling, I think it was becuase he could make out my face better.
Oh and about the bright color thing, I wouldn't do that yet, I would still go for black and white images, my doctor (and books I have read) told me that colors come a little later, and right now they like to see contrast, like black and white.
A good website that talks about development is www.babycenter.com. They have a thing called my baby this week, and they send you a short e-mail every week that lists some of the things your baby should start doing soon. I check mine once in a while just to see.
Hope that helps!

No need for concern! Baby's eyes take a long time to be able to focus. this is perfectly normal. Get some books on infant development and read them. It will help you know what to expect with your child development and make you more comfortable and less fearful. best of luck.

every child varies. 6 weeks is still pretty young, and some things are still blury. Try getting bright colors and see if she or he looks at it or if it grabs their attention. Red is a good color to try. I think that you need to give it a couple months before being concerned.

At that age they can only see about 30 cm away, Hold your face close and see if bub tries to focus in on you. remember EVERYTHING is so new to them.
